🙌 Working in the TWI Training and Examinations administration team, it’s always rewarding to see candidates achieve their goals — and we’re delighted to celebrate Alex Stephen for passing the 𝗖𝗦𝗪𝗜𝗣 𝟯.𝟮 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 exam after completing the five­-day course in Aberdeen.

👏 Huge credit as well to Jade Aitken whose clear guidance and supportive teaching continue to make a real difference to our learners.

🫶 Moments like this remind me how meaningful it is to support candidates throughout their training journey and see their hard work pay off.

🙌 Two weeks ago today, it was great to welcome teachers from across the Tees Valley to TWI UK – Training and Examination Services’ Middlesbrough training centre for our 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 event; delivered with Tees Valley Combined Authority.

🎓 Teachers explored what TWI and The Welding Institute have to offer including learning and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, through hands-on workshops, facility tours and discussions about engineering career pathways. Sessions included Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Testing, Phased Array as well demonstrations of the new 𝗧𝗪𝗜 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘂𝗯.

This course introduces the concepts of fitness-for-purpose and engineering critical assessment (ECA), using a mixture of lectures, informal discussion, quizzes, videos and software exercises to reinforce learning. Focusing on the practical applications of fracture mechanics, this course covers brittle and ductile fracture, plastic collapse, fatigue crack growth and stress corrosion cracking - highlighting fracture and fatigue procedures in BS 7910, with an emphasis on how they are applied to welded structures.

💥 Last week, we were delighted to host this group of students who are here at our Cambridge facility, completing their 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 course.

💥 This course forms part of the Specialist Level of the 𝗘𝗙𝗪/𝗜𝗜𝗪 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 and this group were really buzzing to get their hands on, practical experience, expertly led by our own Martin D'Urso!

🙌 This week, we have had the absolute pleasure of hosting this group of students taking their CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspection course, here at our premises in Cambridge.

🪧 The group have been expertly guided all week by our Senior Welding Inspection Lecturer, based in Cambridge, Mike Jamieson.

This week's course is the first of the New Year, January 2026 for our lecturer Jade Aitken. This 𝗖𝗦𝗪𝗜𝗣 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 course has taken TWI UK – Training and Examination Services to an unusual location by the River Clyde as part of a bespoke course put on for John Tracey Specialist Welding.

These six candidates are at the start of their Welding Inspection journey and we wish all the very best to them.

🐝 We jumped straight in with a busy start to the new week! 🐝

Yesterday was the first morning of a 3.2.1. Senior Welding Inspection course held at the Westinghouse facility in Monfalcone, Italy.

The lecturers are Giorgio Breda and Fabio Alfine, with Jade Aitken conducting the lecturer's performance review for TWI.

Exams will be held following the completion of the course on Friday 12 September 2025 - we are sending out our best wishes to all the students - you've got this! 🙌
