๐ Member Spotlight: Beckyโs Story ๐
Sometimes the benefits of exercise go far beyond what we can see in the mirror or on the scales.
Our amazing member Becky H wanted to share her story, and itโs a powerful reminder of why looking after ourselves matters.
Becky joined Boot Camp over 8 years ago after losing weight and discovering a love for exercise. Since then, sheโs completed over 900 sessions, enjoying not only the physical benefits but also the friendships, sense of achievement, and routine that come with showing up consistently.
Over the last couple of years, Becky has been dealing with persistent hip and lower back pain. After visiting her GP, undergoing physiotherapy, and having an MRI scan, she was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease affecting her lower lumbar spine.
While that news could have been daunting, there was a hugely positive takeaway.
The specialist explained that the years of consistent exercise, strength training, and walking have helped build and maintain the muscles supporting and protecting the affected areas. Although Becky still experiences some discomfort, her active lifestyle has played a significant role in helping her manage the condition.
The advice from the specialist?
๐ Keep doing what youโre doing.
๐ Donโt be tempted to stop moving because of discomfort.
๐ Stay strong and stay active.
Becky firmly believes that her commitment to exercise over the years has been her saving grace. She adapts exercises when needed, listens to her body, and continues to train with the support of our community.
Her story is a fantastic reminder that exercise isnโt just about weight loss, fitness goals, or preparing for an event. Itโs about investing in your future health, building resilience, and giving your body the tools it needs to cope with lifeโs challenges.

Charlotte has just reached 1,000 workouts. โค๏ธ
When Charlotte first started, she'd always exercised, but had never really found anything she could stick with long term.
She'd tried gyms. She'd been to classes. Even a different bootcamp. She enjoyed them, but after a while it became easy to find a reason not to go. Easy to tell herself she'd go tomorrow instead.
Then, 8 years ago, Charlotte and her mum started looking for a different kind of training after realising they genuinely enjoyed bootcamp style workouts. It was one of the first things they'd found that they could do together.
That one decision turned into 1,000 sessions.
Over the years, those sessions have seen her through a lot.
She's built the confidence to know what her body needs, when to push herself, when to adapt exercises, and how to challenge herself with the right weights.
She's become one of those people who quietly gets up early, gets out of the door and gets it done before the day has a chance to get in the way.
She's trained through three pregnancies, right up until 8 months pregnant each time, adapting sessions when needed and returning when she felt ready after each baby.
She's juggled childcare, family commitments and all the demands that come with being a mum.
She's had good times and difficult times.
And through all of it, she kept turning up.
When Charlotte told us what bootcamp means to her, this is what stood out:
"Bootcamp is a part of my life. As well as fitness, it really contributes to my mental health. As everyone would have in 8 years, I have had my ups and downs. Bootcamp has been a staple throughout this. It has been here when I have been going through some really tough times and I believe it has been part of pulling me through."
There aren't many of our members who reach 1,000 workouts.
Not because they aren't capable of it, but because life gets in the way.
Work gets busy.
Children come along.
Things get hard.
And when life can feel difficult, motivation and consistency can suffer.
Which is exactly why this achievement and milestone is so special.
1,000 sessions isn't about being perfect.
It's about showing up, again and again, through all the different seasons of life.

Ten years.
Just let that land for a second.
Before bootcamp, Becky had tried the gym thing. A few memberships. Ten minutes on the treadmill, a bit on the stepper, a wander round the machines. Nothing clicked. The motivation wasn't there. The consistency wasn't there. Sound familiar?
Then she found us, and something shifted.
"It felt friendlier straight away. I get told exactly what to do and how, so it takes away me having to think about it. It works my whole body. I feel so good after a workout."
Ten years on, the numbers tell one story. Weight lost. Fitness level, in her own words, very good. Cholesterol that was high when she joined, now in the healthy range.
But the number that matters most to us?
Ten. Years. Of not quitting.
Ten years of choosing herself when life gave her every reason not to. Ten years of walking through that door. Ten years of becoming someone who just... keeps going.
The confidence that has grown. The mental health benefits she says matter just as much as anything physical. The woman she is now compared to the woman who wandered round a gym not knowing what she was doing.
Becky, we have watched you build something real. Something that belongs entirely to you.
We are so proud of you. ๐
