❗TIME TO ACT TRAINING❗

Join us for a really important conversation with Time to Act about consent, being an active bystander, and how to support each other.

This will involve difficult and potentially triggering topics, so there will be no judgement if anyone has to leave partway through, but we encourage as many people as possible to attend.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿DYDD GWYL DEWI HAPUS!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Today is St David's Day, the patron saint of Wales.

Born in the 6th century in Pembrokeshire, St David was a Welsh monk. The story is his life is shrouded in mystery and folklore, and most of what we know about him comes from the writings of Rhygyfarch in around 1090.

He was a preacher and enacted very strict rules for monks to live by, including that they had to plough fields themselves, and abstain from alcohol.

❤️VALENTINE'S DAY❤️

A day of love and merriment is almost upon us (though St Dwynwen's Day has long gone, so we hope you all got your lovespoons).

Interestingly, as we focus on the twelfth century, the people of our time did not celebrate Valentine's Day in a way we would recognise today, with gifts for one's lover(s). Instead, they observed his feast day on the 14th February in their church parishes.

A couple of centuries later, in the 14th century, the famous poet Geoffrey Chaucer wrote about Saint Valentine’s Day: "When every bird comes there to choose his mate".
