Great news to share today.
Coach Rich is out of hospital and on the road to recovery from his emergency operation, which has been going well so far and if everything continues in the right direction, he is hoping to be back to running sessions from the 20th July, at the latest.
He is taking things step by step to make sure he can return safely and with the energy our young people deserve, but it feels good to finally have a potential date in sight.
Thank you all for your patience, kindness, and support over the last few weeks. It’s meant more than you know. We will keep everyone updated as we get closer — can’t wait to get back out there with you all.

Day 4 at Gloucester Royal Hospital. Still hooked up to a drip, and still in lots of pain.
Who knew that having a hernia would be so life threatening as having to perform emergency surgery.
So how did this happen? Well at the end of 2024 I had a stoma reversal and then went back to work running my sports sessions and business, without any proper healing or rest.
Then over the course of 2025 and 2026, I developed a hernia that got so big it looked like I had an alien coming out of the side of my abdomen.
This hernia landed me in hospital several times over the 18 months between 2025 and 2026, with consultants telling me I would have to have an operation to correct it.
What would happen each time was that a loop of my intestine would get stuck in between my bowel, causing me lot's of pain and problems. However, these pains have always seemed to manifest as bloatedness and indigestion, which is what I thought was going on, on Wednesday evening when I did my regular sports session in Worcester.
Unfortunately, it turned out that a loop of my intestine had once again, trapped my bowel. So at 2am on Thursday morning the wife took me to A&E in Gloucester who admitted me quickly, and by 9am I was going into surgery.
So now with having lost some of my bowel, as well as my colon from previous operations, I had my intestine taken apart and sewn back together. With everything neatly packed back into where it belongs, and all sewn up like a Christmas turkey, with a nice 6 inch sacr across my stomach.
Anyway, I suppose the moral of the story is, always listen to your body.

Well I didn't expect to be back in hospital during the half term break.
On the mend after my hernia surgery and finally starting to feel more like myself again. It’s been a tougher few hours than I expected, but the rest is doing its job and I’m taking things one step at a time.
Thank you to everyone who’s sent messages, checked in, or just been patient while I get on the road to recovery. It means more than you know. I’m not quite ready to jump back into sessions yet, but I’m definitely heading in the right direction.
I’ll keep you all updated as I get stronger — can’t wait to be back out there with you all soon.

I wanted to share something important with everyone. I’ve had to go in for an emergency operation, and while I’m recovering I’ll be out of action for around two months.
This unfortunately means all sports sessions will be paused during this time.
It’s not a decision I ever want to make, but my health has to come first so I can come back strong and continue giving our young people the energy, care and quality they deserve.
Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and for being part of this amazing community. I’ll keep you updated as I recover, and I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love with all of you.

On Monday 3rd June, we won’t be running our Stroud multisport session as we’ll be attending the Gloucestershire Active Conference, connecting with partners and championing inclusive sport across the county.
Then on Thursday 11th June, our Thursday football sessions will pause for the week while we take part in the Gloucestershire Active Big Health Day in Gloucester — a brilliant event celebrating movement, wellbeing, and community.
All other sessions run as normal, and we’ll be right back the following weeks with the same energy, smiles, and inclusive fun you know us for.
Thanks for your understanding and for being part of our growing community.

A brilliant football session in Worcester today — even in the heat, everyone absolutely smashed it.
Plenty of effort, plenty of smiles, and plenty of water breaks too.
Huge credit to every player who turned up and gave it their all despite the hot weather.
Community spirit at its best.
