Everyone loves a pristine “after” photo, but ours is a working yard, so it’s never going to stay spotless for long! 🚜

It’s hard to believe this was once just a field. We excavated nearly 3 metres down in places, installed around 600 metres of drainage pipe, including a 250-metre run along the bank, and built in access points so the lorry’s toilet box can be emptied easily into the pit.

The finished concrete road and yard are a big transformation, but much of the hard work is hidden underneath. A huge thanks to team Green Hall 👏

A little help from Ted today while we put soil down and reseeded this area. 🌱

He loves coming out to work with Dad, especially when there’s a chance to use his quad. He spotted the little trailer, found a rope and decided he was towing it himself!

He’s always looking for a way to get stuck in, and I love having him alongside me. 🚜

Our builder sent me this video saying he had “bush envy” 😂🌿

You can see why. Our gardener keeps these hedges looking absolutely tip top, with the straight lines and symmetry that are such an important part of an English country estate garden.

We take a lot of pride in keeping the grounds looking as carefully tended as they would have been years ago. It takes time and skill, but when the builder stops to film the hedges, you know the gardener’s done a good job! 👏

A morning away from the jobs to take the lads shooting at Eaton Hall. Great fun, plenty of laughs, and a bit of friendly competition over the clays! 🎯

They put a lot into the work we do at Green Hall, so it was good to get everyone together and treat the team to a morning out. Thanks to Eaton Hall for having us. 👏 ***un

A busy week of improvements!

The burning pit and separate compost and leaf mould area have had tarmac laid to tidy things up. Granite cobbles are next, with a resin finish to follow.

We reuse as much as we can from the gardens. Leaves become leaf mould, and compostable material goes back into the soil. Thanks to our head gardener, who manages it all and knows what’s best for the gardens.

A massive thank you to the whole team for their work across the estate this week, from laying woodland paths to tarmacking entranceways and keeping the estate accessible throughout. 👏

The horses have been enjoying the ménage for a while now, and we’re finally getting round to the finishing touches around it. 🐴

Next up is a sleeper border and some planting at the front. Our wooden horse seems quite happy with the view in the meantime — especially at sunset. 🌅

One of our favourite places!

What was once the old Victorian grotto has been brought back to life as our water garden, with ponds, waterfalls, stone paths and planting all tucked away beneath the trees.

And probably the best addition of all — a bench perfectly positioned to sit, listen to the water and have five minutes to think. Sometimes it’s nice just to stop and enjoy what’s been created. 🌿💧
