The Ballet exam results are in and all we have to say is WOOOOOOOHOOOOO! 74% Distinctions and the rest Merits, what a huge achievement and a testament to how hard our Ballet Academy students (and our wonderful teachers) have worked 🩰💪🏽

Musical Theatre is a firm favourite with our HQ students and there’s no question as to why. It’s FUN, EMPOWERING and BUILDS CONFIDENCE! Even our most timid students come to life in this class, it gives them a voice and makes them feel part of a team 💪🏽

Last week, Ellie from Counsellor | Adults & Couples | ADHD & Autism Specialist joined us to talk to our team about neurodivergence, neuro-affirming teaching practice and, importantly, how we can better support every child who walks through our doors.

Differentiation is a huge part of my vision for teaching. As dance educators, our responsibility goes far beyond teaching the steps. Great teaching means understanding how children learn, process information, communicate, regulate and experience the world around them.

I’m incredibly proud that Dance HQ is a nurturing and safe space for so many children, and continuing to learn about neurodiversity is an important part of our pedagogy and my ethos as an educator.

We’re taking what we learned from Ellie and beginning to embed new approaches and non-negotiables across our teaching. Creating classes that are predictable, inclusive, supportive and enjoyable, while still challenging our dancers to learn, grow and develop.

Because every child deserves to feel seen, understood and successful at Dance HQ!!

A huge thank you to Ellie for sharing her knowledge with our team and helping us continue to grow as educators.

We have been busy creating new routines, technical drills and learning our new RAD syllabus ready for September! From pre-school all the way up to seniors, the students are in for a treat, with innovative new ways of developing technique through challenges, exploration and team work 😍✨🚀

But before that we’ve got strength and conditioning sessions with our ATP students, syllabus planning, studio organising and lots of HARD WORK kicking off in September🤪

An amazing performance is the result of dedication, teamwork, perseverance, resilience, commitment, discipline, determination, empathy, kindness, patience and so much more.

Every single performer on that stage, and those who were at each rehearsal despite missing the show, should be so proud. The work that goes in is unbelievable but so worth it!
