Chappel and Wakes Colne Cricket Club

05/10/2026

🏏 2027 starts here…thanks to the team at Parkers Pitches the first signs of next season are already taking shape, with our playing square renovations well underway! 🌱

The top pitch is being prepared with two playing surfaces, which will significantly increase the amount of hardball cricket we can offer across the club.

A big investment in the future of the club and hopefully, a lot more cricket for a lot more people.

🏏 Junior Presentations 2026! 🏆
Tonight, some of our fantastic Kwik Cricketers and U11/U12 players came together to celebrate the end of another brilliant summer of cricket!
While it’s always special to hand out individual awards, cricket is, and always will be, the ultimate team sport. We win as one, we learn as one, and we grow as one. Every run saved in the field, every cheer from the boundary, and every bit of encouragement on the pitch is what makes this group so special.
The future is looking incredibly bright:

A huge congratulations to the players making the step up to hardball cricket for the first time next seasonan exciting rite of passage that you are all more than ready for and some of our older players will also be stepping into mixed-age cricket next year, bringing their energy, skill, and passion to the next level.
A massive THANK YOU to our coaching team and supportive parents. Your time, patience, and endless encouragement behind the scenes make all of this possible. 👏 JM Finn T&C Site Services Ltd
Though not everyone could be here tonight, we celebrate every single player who put on the shirt this season. Enjoy a well-deserved break, and we can’t wait to see you all back for winter nets soon as we prepare for 2027!

We’ve officially done it!
After six months of putting in the work week in, week out, we’ve reached the final games of the season as we meet West Mersea Cricket Club, honours were shared last week with one win each, so today is set up to be a brilliant final round.

Looking at the team sheet today, it really captures what this club is all about. We’ve got two sets of brothers, a father-and-son combination, two completely unrelated Joneses, one brand-new face joining us, and a new captain making his debut.

Matches come and go, but the real mark of a season is the community built week after week, the families, the new friendships, and the shared effort that keeps us coming back.

Youth vs. Experience: Who would prevail? 🏏🔥

Spoiler: experience takes the trophy!

The senior citizens claimed an emphatic win in the inaugural Adults vs. Juniors T10, defending 95/3 to hold the Juniors to 85/2!

Here’s how the showdown played out under the fading light:

💥 Batting Fireworks: Bill silenced the opposition sledging with a quick-fire 20 (retired), before Ed smashed the boundary rope ball after ball.

🚀 Young Guns Firing: Fergus batted like it was a 10-ball game, launching huge 6s—including one clean over the sight screen!

🙌 Highlights: Alice bowled a absolute peach to knock over Colin, Amabelle put in a brilliant display in the field, and the Anandraj brothers showed serious future talent.

In the end, tight bowling held off the chase and secured bragging rights for the Elders.

Turns out there's plenty of life in the old dogs yet! 🐕

The penultimate day of our friendly season sees us welcome todays visitors our friends from West Mersea Cricket Club . 🏏
Two matches, two pitches, and a real family affair all round!
We’ve got 2 brothers, 3 father-son pairings, a father and daughter, plus 2 of the ladies from our hardball team. There’s also a wealth of experience from across all levels of the club, alongside some new faces making their mark.
A great mix of experience, family connections and new talent, all coming together for what promises to be a competitive but friendly day of cricket.
Looking forward to it! 🏏👏
