Urchinwood Manor Riding and Event Centre Riding School, Stables, livery and Competition centre Urchinwood is a 17th Century Manor house, surrounded by 100 acres of pasture.

Sally & Peter Hall started Urchinwood Manor Equestrian Centre in 1979. The excellent facilities and staff provide tuition for riders from beginner to advanced in a safe fun environment. Private & Group lessons are available for all, from beginner to advanced level in Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross Country, Side Saddle, and Stable Management. Every now and then you het a horse that will stop the horse walker but stubbornness, so the pusher was added. We thought that some of the horses were enjoying the zap from the pusher, but no it was not working…. Any way today it was decided that it needed to work again, so the intrepid duo (Terry and Ian) striped it down and tried all sorts to get it working. Several hours later, and lots of head scratching they discover on of the hydraulic pipes is earthing the pusher and stopping it working. So 2 hours and all we needed to do was insulate the connector on the hydraulic hose….. Back to electric fence school for the duo, and a sigh written in horse on the outside to warn the next users of the walker that the pushers has been repaired.

Back to last weeks dental question.
Normally there are:
12 Incisors
4 Canine (Normally in male horses only, but occasionally a mare will have small canine teeth)
24 Molars

I can hear you shouting “Wolf Teeth”, some but not all horses may also have these (up to a maximum of 4). They sit just in front of the molars, and maybe shed naturally with the juvenile teeth, but are often removed (if not shed) as they can interfere with the bit.

So with this in mind the minimum an adult horse should have is 36 and the theoretical maximum would be 44. So well done if you got that right.

A welcome return this week for CLTH (Changing Lives Through Horses) both returning students and those new to the programme. Monday’s groups had positive sessions with goal setting for the term ahead and returning to riding. I look forward to seeing Friday’s group for more of the same.

This is Steve, he is vision impaired, but it doses not stop him having a go at anything. He regularly takes part in our dressage competitions and is now having a go at jumping.
