Not our usual environment tonight with school open evenings meaning no sports hall! Despite a nice dry weather forecast, we got poured on ☔️ Well done to both Tuesday groups for putting in the graft and making the most of it. Back in our nice dry surroundings next week thankfully 🙌🏼

What do our junior players actually train towards?

For many of our teams, it’s the Junior Futsal Series.

Our U10–U14 groups get regular Monday-night competition in Dinnington, usually around once every four weeks.

Enough games to learn the sport properly without asking families to choose between futsal and their existing grassroots football every weekend.

Training matters. Games bring the learning to life.

⚽ SYB FUTSAL TOP SCORERS – SEPTEMBER ⚽
A brilliant first month of the season and a huge 78 goals already by 35 players across the club 👏
From our junior boys and girls sections right through to the senior men, it’s great to see so many players making an impact on court.
Well done to all of our current top scorers for September 💚💛
This is only the start… plenty more games, goals and big moments to come as the season continues.
Who’s adding to their tally in October? Can anyone catch Oggy?! 👀

Very proud of this bunch tonight in their first game 👏🏼 The new U10s took lots of learning from their recent sessions and put on a great futsal display. A fantastic entertaining game from the girls also saw them run out narrow winners this evening against a talented SJR side. The future is definitely bright for SYB with some great talent coming through 💚

A first futsal session doesn’t have to mean a huge commitment.

Come in. Try the game. Meet the coaches. See what you think.

For players who enjoy it, there’s then something to build towards:

Weekly training → representing SYB → Junior Futsal Series → regional opportunities → older age groups → senior futsal.

One step at a time.

A player receives the ball.

Pressure arrives immediately.

Do they protect it? Turn? Play first time? Use the sole? Combine? Attack 1v1?

In futsal, those decisions happen again and again.

That’s one of the reasons we love seeing young footballers experience the game alongside their usual football programme — lots of involvement and very little hiding.

A massive well done to ALL the teams who played on the night — some great effort, teamwork and goals across the board! 🙌⚽️

Thursday nights at Retford show exactly what we’re trying to build at SYB.

6–7pm — U11–12 Academy
7–8pm — U13–15 Girls Academy
8–9pm — Men’s Senior Team

Different ages. Different stages. Same game.

Players can learn futsal as juniors, experience competitive fixtures and have a senior environment to progress towards.

There has to be somewhere to go next.
