September saw the opening fixtures of the 2026/2027 season. Following a productive and successful pre-season, Ferry entered the new campaign raring to go! πŸ”΄βš«οΈ

Four fixtures into the season, and it’s already clear just how competitive this league is going to be. There are no easy games, and full respect goes to every team we’ve battled with so far. 🀝🏼⚽️

Not a bad start to the season! There have already been some incredibly close contests, but Ferry have competed throughout and picked up seven valuable points.

Stags Head FC 2–4 Owston Ferry SC

Following last week’s fiercely contested 2–2 draw, Ferry made the trip to Stags Head FC for the reverse fixture, ready to run it back! πŸ”΄βš«οΈ

Ferry had several injuries and holidays to contend with, leaving the gaffer facing serious questions over why he’s approving leave requests partway through the new season!

An internal investigation will be conducted by… the gaffer. πŸ˜‚

⏱️ FIRST HALF

Ferry started sharply and looked composed on a pitch considerably narrower than we’re used to.

Both teams looked to utilise the long ball early on and, in truth, it wasn’t the prettiest opening to a game of football.

Jack Rybak soon found himself racing through on goal before once again being brought down by the onrushing goalkeeper.

Yes, again! Two games against Stags Head, two goalkeeper collisions for Rybak. This time, however, the referee pointed to the spot. πŸ‘‰πŸΌβšͺ️

Ryan Hughes stepped forward and calmly converted the penalty to put Ferry ahead.

⚽️ 0–1 – RYAN HUGHES

Ferry quickly doubled the advantage.

Some quality work from Donovan Goucher down the right flank allowed him to find Mo Dridi, who slotted the ball home to give Ferry an early foothold in the game.

⚽️ 0–2 – MO DRIDI

Stags Head found a route back into the match when a long ball into the Ferry box was initially dealt with by Axle Keenan.

Axle’s headed clearance fell to a Stags Head player, who coolly finished first time volley into the open goal.

⚽️ 1–2 – STAGS HEAD FC

Just before half-time, Ferry restored the two-goal advantage, and what a goal it was! 🀩

Sam Hare collected possession inside his own half before producing an outstanding pass into the path of the onrushing Donovan Goucher.

Donovan drove down the right and into the penalty area, with everyone expecting him to throw his right foot through the ball.

Instead, he fooled absolutely everyone with a Cruyff turn before curling a composed left-footed finish into the bottom-left corner.

Unreal composure! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ”₯

⚽️ 1–3 – DONOVAN GOUCHER

⏱️ HT: STAGS HEAD FC 1–3 OWSTON FERRY SC

Ferry remained composed after the break and continued creating opportunities, although several chances came and went.

The fourth eventually arrived when Mo Dridi’s initial effort was blocked, with the rebound falling kindly to Lewis Ritchie.

Lewis kept his composure and calmly fired the ball home to put Ferry firmly in control.

⚽️ 1–4 – LEWIS RITCHIE

Stags Head pulled one back in spectacular fashion when they scored directly from a corner.

Straight in. No touch. Who shoots from there?! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Two competitive fixtures against a strong Stags Head side, with Ferry collecting four points from a possible six.

After a proper battle last time out, we caught up with Miller Fletcher ahead of this weekend’s fixture… against a very familiar opponent. πŸ‘€ ⚽️

πŸ—£οΈ Miller Fletcher (sponsored by High Demand Properties Ltd):

β€œLast weekend was a really competitive game, with both teams pushing right until the end.

In the end we had to settle for a 2–2 draw, and I think both sides probably walked away feeling like they could’ve taken more from that game.

Usually after a game like that you shake hands, take the point and move on…

Apparently not this time. πŸ˜‚

We didn’t have to wait very long for the rematch, as this weekend we travel to Stags Head and basically run the whole thing back again. πŸ”„ ⚽️

We know exactly what to expect. They’re a strong, competitive side and last weekend showed there’s not much between the two teams, so we’re expecting another really tough game.

We’ll take the positives from last Sunday, look at where we can improve and hopefully this time we can do enough to come away with all three points.

Same two teams.

One week later.

Different pitch.

Hopefully a different scoreline.

We’re looking forward to it!” πŸ”΄βš«οΈ

Owston Ferry SC 2–2 Stags Head FC

Today we welcomed a very well-drilled Stags Head FC side to Ferry for a proper competitive battle.

The result could have gone either way, with both teams eventually taking a share of the points. πŸ«±πŸΌβ€πŸ«²πŸ½

⏱️ FIRST HALF

Stags Head started strongly, looking to get in behind Ferry with plenty of balls over the top and piling pressure onto the home defence.

Ferry defended solidly, with Axle Keenan called into action on several occasions and producing some brilliant saves to keep the scores level. 🧀

As the half progressed, Ferry grew into the game, started building confidence and created a few opportunities of our own.

Arguably the best chance of the half fell to Jack Rybak in a one-on-one situation.

Both Rybak and the Stags Head goalkeeper rushed towards the ball, with Jack getting there a split second before being absolutely clattered for the privilege!

Ferry appealed for the penalty, but the referee waved it away. We certainly felt hard done by on that one!

⏱️ HT: OWSTON FERRY SC 0–0 STAGS HEAD FC

Ferry were caught out early in the second half when a long ball into the box wasn’t dealt with, allowing the Stags Head player to pounce and smash the ball home.

⚽️ 0–1 – STAGS HEAD FC

Ferry refused to let their heads drop and immediately pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

A last-ditch challenge from Ryan Hughes allowed Ferry to turn defence into attack, with Andy Smith bursting down the left at unbelievable pace and beating players before seeing his effort blocked on the line.

Mo Dridi was exactly where he needed to be and tapped home the rebound to level the scores.

⚽️ 1–1 – MO DRIDI

Ferry then completed the turnaround!

A quality delivery from Kayden Stevens found the head of Paul Smith, who directed his effort on target.

The Stags Head goalkeeper made the save but could only parry the ball into the path of the onrushing Bobby Coyle, who made no mistake with the finish.

⚽️ 2–1 – BOBBY COYLE

The final 20 minutes saw Stags Head pile on the pressure, although Ferry continued committing bodies forward in search of another goal.

With just two minutes remaining, Ferry suffered a huge blow.

A Stags Head player collected a clearance around 25 yards from goal before curling an absolute beauty into the top corner.

No goalkeeper in the world was saving that one. Fair play. πŸ‘

It’s always disappointing to concede so late after battling back to take the lead, but over the full 90 minutes, this was a fiercely competitive game between two sides who both gave everything.

In all seriousness we know this is going to be a proper test on Sunday, Stags Head have won their previous 2 league games, scoring 13 in the process, so we know we have to be bang at it from the first whistle.

We’ve got a great squad available to pick from on Sunday, and after a great training session last night, the lads are raring to go, we want 3 points and nothing less.

Otter FC 0–4 Owston Ferry

Back to winning ways today as Ferry came away 4–0 victors over Otter FC. 😍

Ferry played some decent football on a very narrow pitch and deservedly took all three points. πŸ”΄βš«οΈ

⏱️ FIRST HALF

⚽️ 0–1 – DECK LYONS

Deck Lyons showed great instinct to strike home from a long throw, flicked on by Paul Smith.

⚽️ 0–2 – MO DRIDI

Ryan Hughes produced some great work down the left to find Mo Dridi, who finished tidily to double Ferry’s advantage.

⚽️ 0–3 – DECK LYONS

Deck Lyons grabbed his brace after Bobby Smith provided the assist, with Deck firing home to put Ferry firmly in control.

⏱️ HT: OTTER FC 0–3 OWSTON FERRY

Otter created a few opportunities, but Ferry defended well and went into the break with a comfortable three goal lead.

The second half saw Ferry drop the tempo and the quality that had put them 3–0 up in the first half also dipped slightly. Plenty of changes and fresh legs were introduced, but Ferry were just off the mark.

The talking point of the second half, however, was an absolute beauty of a finish from Jack Rybak. 🀩

⚽️ 0–4 – JACK RYBAK

Andy Smith found Rybak on the edge of the box, and Jack coolly and calmly finessed a sweet side-footed volley straight across goal and into the top bins.

Some finish! πŸš€

Following last weekend’s local derby defeat against Kings Arms Haxey FC. We caught up with Assistant Manager, Rhys Popplewell⚽️

πŸ—£οΈ Rhys (sponsored by EJBTherapies):

β€œSo we move on to our third game of the season this week away against Otter FC.

We travel there with the squad in good spirits after a decent performance against Kings Arms last week, being unlucky to be on the end of a 2-1 loss.

The squad had a good training session last night in preparation for the weekend so the lads know what is required and what we expect from them this weekend.

Hats off to Otter as they’ve won their first 2 league games of the season, so we know it’s going to be a test this weekend, just as it was at the back end of last season where we came away with a win, we fully intend to repeat that this weekend and get back to winning ways.

We move forward together.

Owston Ferry 1–2 Kings Arms Haxey

Today was one of those days where you feel you deserved something from the game, but somehow come away with nothing.

Ferry played some really good football, had the majority of possession and looked to build on last weekend’s winning start. πŸ”΄βš«οΈ

The opening chance came when Jack Ryback was first to pounce on a through ball. He got his head to it around the keeper, only to be clattered flat in the process.

An absolute clear-cut penalty.

But the referee waved it away.

Absolute madness!! 🀯

Shortly after, Kings were awarded a penalty when Andy Smith brought down a player in the box, despite clearly winning the ball.

Even the Kings player looked in disbelief that the penalty had been given! πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

⚽️ 0–1 – KINGS ARMS HAXEY

Kings converted from the spot to take the lead.

Ferry continued to push and were soon awarded a penalty of their own when Mo Dridi was brought down inside the box.

⚽️ 1–1 – Ryan Hughes sponsored by Axholme Decorators Ltd

Ryan Hughes stepped up and calmly converted to bring Ferry level.

⏱️ HT: OWSTON FERRY 1–1 KINGS ARMS HAXEY

The second half saw Ferry push on in search of the winner.

The lads did everything right…

Apart from putting the ball in the net.

Ferry continued to play some really good football, created plenty of chances and committed players forward looking for that second goal.

Unfortunately, we were caught on the counter and Kings managed to find the breakthrough.

⚽️ 1–2 – KINGS ARMS HAXEY

Ferry kept pushing right until the final whistle and had plenty of opportunities to find an equaliser, but it just wasn’t our day in front of goal.

⏱️ FT: OWSTON FERRY 1–2 KINGS ARMS HAXEY

A frustrating result in a game where the lads gave everything and, on another day, probably come away with something to show for it.

Credit to Kings Arms Haxey for taking their chances and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season. 🀝🏼⚽️

After getting the 2026/27 season off to a winning start, we caught up with the gaffer ahead of this weekend’s local derby against Kings Arms Haxey FC. πŸ‘€βš½οΈ

πŸ—£οΈ Miller Fletcher (sponsored by High Demand Properties Ltd):

β€œWe were buzzing to finally get the season underway last weekend and even happier to come away with the three points against a really tough Blue Bell side.

It was important to start well, but that one’s done now and our attention turns straight to Sunday.

This week we welcome Kings Arms Haxey FC to Owston Ferry for the first home game of the season, and a local derby always adds that little bit extra. πŸ”₯

It’s two teams who’ll both be desperate to get points on the board early doors after 3 points in the opening weekend, so we’re under no illusions about what sort of game we’re expecting.

Kings are always a tough opponent. They’ll battle, compete and make life difficult, so we’ll need to be switched on from the first whistle and hopefully build on the positives from last weekend.

First home game. Local derby. Hopefully another three points.

What more do you want on a Sunday morning? πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

All support is massively welcome, get yourselves down to Ferry and get behind the lads! πŸ”΄βš«οΈ
