MATCHDAY: PRESEASON FRIENDLY 🏉
With a slightly extended delay until the start of our league campaign we travel to the other side of the city to take on Aberdeen Wanderers RFC at Groats Road tonight.
Both clubs have shared some valuable training sessions and therefore there will be plenty of familiar faces on display between the two sides.👀
It is shaping up to be a useful benchmark test for the campaign ahead. 🤜
A shoutout to Aberdeenshire Rugby Football Club, who are returning the favour tonight by sending a few players to run out with us, after some of our lads got valuable game time in their colours the other week. 🤝

🚨 WARNING: Preseason has commenced.
Standard pre-season optimism lasted about 5 minutes into the Hyrox session provided by Callum Smith Cheers to Callum and the team at Get Active @ Jesmond for putting the guys through their paces and reminding us exactly how much fitness we lost over the summer.🥵
We’re adding to the squad for the season ahead. Whether you want to test yourself, see if you can run faster than the forwards, or just need a solid excuse to have a b**r, we’ve got a spot for you.🍺
Drop us a message for training times.

🏉 Armed Forces Day 🪖
Following yesterday, everyone at Dyce RFC wants to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the Armed Forces community—and for our club, this connection runs deep.
We are incredibly proud to have a strong tradition of service within our own ranks. From active servicemen currently taking to the field for our senior men’s team—including players who have proudly represented the Army rugby team this year—to veterans who have transitioned back to civilian life, and former players who served before them, our club, like so many rugby clubs in the area, has been deeply shaped by the military community.
📰 📜 RAF Dyce Rugby - January 1942
Did you know that our club was not the first to play rugby in Dyce?
This report from the Montrose Standard details a match between RAF Montrose and RAF Dyce during the Second World War.
While our modern club has no official affiliation to the original RAF Dyce team, we are incredibly proud to honor their history. The report details a classic, muddy wartime thriller played right here on home soil, where RAF Dyce fought back to beat RAF Montrose 13-10 thanks to some brilliant tries and a massive rally from the Dyce forwards.
Seeing the local game documented like this from 1942 shows just how deep rugby roots go in the Dyce community.
While the RAF Dyce base no longer exists, its incredible legacy lives on. The former base provided the platform for 102 (Aberdeen Airport) Squadron Air Training Corps who remain a fantastic, long-term partner of our rugby club to this day.
That connection comes full circle. Not only are we proud to have former air cadets playing amongst our current senior squad, but our very own Jonny Clipston, proudly serves as the Squadron Padre.
The core values of the forces—teamwork, discipline, courage, and respect—are the exact same values we strive for at our club.
To all our current active players, Army reps, veterans, former servicemen and women , former clubmen, the 102 Squadron cadets and military families: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication. 🤝

Sam Lobban 7s 🏉
A massive effort on a hot Saturday afternoon from the Dyce 7s team. We came up against some seriously well-drilled sides in a tough pool, exiting at the group stage after hard-fought matches against Aberdeen Leavers, Aberdeen Grammar Rugby , and Westhill Academy.
Naturally, the post-match cool downs and pre-match warm ups consisted entirely of b**rs and burgers from the BBQ. 🍺🍔
An incredible event for such a good cause. Congratulations to the organisers and the many faces that put on this tournament year after year. Thanks for having us! 🤝 The Sam Lobban Trophy
Another big thank you to our guest players and their respective clubs.
On the field there was a sight for sore eyes seeing Danny Macgregor back on the pitch after a long season out with injury—and he marked his return in style by bagging a try. 👏
Graeme Johnston also bagged a try on the day after some good support play. Since arriving at the club, Graeme has been putting in some solid performances and Saturday was no different. 👏
