We are delighted to introduce Mog, the new Digital Inclusion Lead at WHALE Arts.

Mog has recently joined our team and will be leading our Digital Support Drop-In sessions from Monday 19th October. We asked her a couple of questions to get to know her a little better:

⭐️ What are you looking forward to doing as part of your new role?
I'm looking forward to getting to know the community and helping with the different kinds of things that people want to learn to do on their phones and computers.

⭐️ What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my two kittens, learning kung fu, and performing in the kung fu school lion & dragon dance team. You might see us around in Edinburgh at Chinese new year and the summer parades 🙂

Our Digital Support Drop-In sessions will run on Mondays and Tuesdays. Need a helping hand with a new device? Using social media? Accessing an online service? Or something else? These free, relaxed sessions are the perfect place to get the support you need. There's no need to book and no set curriculum, just turn up and raise the topics you're interested in.

There's just over two weeks until the Wester Hailes Open Exhibition!

To celebrate the opening of this very special exhibition, we have two exciting events lined up.

Be one of the first to check out the exhibition, take part in a creative activity, enjoy an extra special community meal (1pm - 2pm) followed by light refreshments, and celebrate our incredible creative community!

🕚️ 11am - 3pm

Come along and explore the exhibition, with creative activities for all ages! Bring along family and friends to check out the artwork and get creative together.

Everyone is welcome, there's no need to book, admission and activities are free.

Unfortunately, our Coorie In Café and 1-2-1 coaching won't be running this Wednesday.

As the WHALE Arts building is closed next week, the Coorie In Café and coaching sessions will be back on Wednesday 21st October.

🪧 Building closed for October school holidays

As usual, our building will be closed and our programme of activities paused during the October school holidays, w/c 12th October.

We've got lots of exciting things coming up over the next couple of months, so we'll be busy getting everything ready!

We look forward to welcoming you back when our doors reopen on Monday 19th October.

Spend an autumn afternoon with us! 🍂 🍎🍏

Join us in the WHALE Arts community garden next Friday. We'll be pressing apples and enjoying our homemade apple juice as well as a little sweet treat!

Our community meal will run as usual from 1pm - 2pm, so pop in for a delicious free lunch, some good company and a bit of nature!

🎞️ The first of our Local Cinema screenings took place on Friday. It was fantastic to see so many people come along, enjoy the film and make the most of our community meal beforehand.

We are currently seeking two freelance artists to join us as part of an exciting new Culture Collective project: Wellbeing Learning Circles, funded by Creative Scotland and based in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh. The project is led by the Community Wellbeing Collective (CWC), in partnership with WHALE Arts, SCOREscotland, Starcatchers, Grass Roots Remedies Co-op, and With Kids.

As part of WHALE Arts' strand of the project "Creative Circles", we are seeking two artists, one experienced and one emerging, to develop and deliver the project. Both artists will be embedded within our organisation for the duration of the project, working alongside our team and community members to explore themes of culture, place, mental health and wellbeing.

We'll be chopping, pressing and drinking apple juice in our community garden on Friday 9th October, and we'd love some company!
