Spartans Community Foundation

Never a dull moment here at the Foundation, and things just got even busier for our hard working operations team. We now host Hearts Women’s home matches - today was the first - hot on the heels of our Spartans Women’s team first premier league match (well done to our colleague and team captain Robyn for ensuring the draw).
By hosting these important matches our social enterprise continues to support everything we do in the community. Get your feet up Paul, Naomi, Stu and the rest of the brilliant team - you deserve it!

Julie is our new Family Thrive Coordinator, working closely with our growing Extra Time team, and Conway joins our busy Youth Work team.

Another big (sweaty) thank you to a fantastic team of volunteers from RBC Brewin
Dolphin. Simon, Steven and Paul worked hard erecting canopies in Granton Primary School's outdoor classroom, and mowing the (real) grass around the pitch at Spartans.

🌟 Exciting times here! 🌟 Abi, our youth work Team Co-Lead, starts a new Spartans project at St Augustine’s RC High School this week. She'll be working mostly with S1s during their tricky transition period, offering social and emotional support 💪. Abi can’t wait to get started 💥and to find out what works for the young people (Any former St David's Primary pupils please say hi to Abi when you see her! 👋)

Our jam-packed summer STEM Camp wrapped up today with the young people feeling inspired and motivated to learn more about science and tech. Look what we did!
🤖 Learned to programme and race Sphero RVRs in our own Rocket League
🎨 Used our art & tech skills with Ozobot Evo robots
⚽ Tried a block coding World Cup workshop with David Reid
🦾 Felt inspired by the VEX robots brought by Blair Wilson from the National Robotarium - with a football twist
🚀 Built powerful rockets with Craig Macfarlane
🔍 Tested our problem-solving skills in an online escape room
🌍 Expanded our horizons at amazing Dynamic Earth!
Huge thanks to everyone who made it such a brilliant, hands-on week of STEM learning - and to our fantastic young people for bringing so much energy and curiosity! 🙌
