Sometimes opportunity arrives when you least expect it.

Liam wasn’t originally scheduled to deliver today’s session with the Newbattle School of Football S2 cohort, but when the opportunity came up at the last minute, he was ready to step in.

And there’s something in that message for the young people too.

Opportunities in football and in life don’t always arrive when we expect them. We can’t control when they come, but we can control how prepared we are when they do.

A great opportunity for the boys and girls to learn, develop and keep pushing themselves within a fantastic football environment.

We’re delighted to continue building on the already brilliant relationship we have with the staff and young people at Newbattle High School, and we’re excited about where that relationship can go.

Liam also spent time delivering a school session with the St David’s S3 boys. Another opportunity to connect with young people through football and create positive learning experiences.

A busy day. New environments. New opportunities. Well done to all the kids and thank you Miss Fellenger for the opportunity. 🙌🏼⬆️⚽️

When young people enjoy what they’re doing, you see it in everything. More energy. More confidence. More curiosity. More willingness to try, fail, learn and go again.

We can challenge young players. We can demand good standards. We can push them outside their comfort zones and encourage them to take responsibility for their own development.

We can do all of that while creating an environment they genuinely look forward to being part of. That’s often when the best learning takes place.

Well done to Hartley (Hutchison Vale 2017s) and Luke (Bonnyrigg Rose 2017s). Two excellent sessions from the youngsters. 🙌🏼⬆️⚽️

One of the biggest things we want every young person who walks into a Grow Football session to understand is that we’re not there to create something that isn’t already within them. Our job is to help draw it out.

The confidence to try things. The courage to make mistakes. The ability to solve problems. The resilience to go again. The belief to express themselves when things become difficult.

As supplemental football coaching continues to grow as an industry, there are more opportunities than ever for young players to access extra training and ultimately, that can only be a positive thing.

However it also strengthens our belief in what we want a Grow Football session to look like. It has never been about simply adding more practices, more touches or more hours of football.

It’s about creating an environment where every individual is challenged, supported and trusted to discover just how capable they can be.

8 years into our journey, we still believe deeply in that approach.

We’ve seen what can happen when young people are given the right environment, the right challenge and, importantly, someone who genuinely believes in them.

Thanks again to everyone who joined Liam and me over the weekend. 🙌🏼⬆️⚽️

Football gives us an incredible opportunity to teach far more than just the game.

Confidence. Resilience. Bravery. Respect. How to deal with mistakes, overcome challenges and keep moving forward when things don’t quite go our way.

The football matters but so does the person behind the player.

A big welcome to Calum (Loanhead Miners 2017s), who joined us for his first Grow 121 with Liam yesterday. ⚽️

We hope it’s the first of many, Calum, and we look forward to supporting you on your journey.

A huge thank you as well to the other 10 young people who joined Liam and myself yesterday. As always, we’re incredibly grateful to every young person and family who chooses to spend part of their weekend with us. 🙌🏼⬆️⚽️

A massive thank you to Hartley (Hutchison Vale 2017s) for joining Grant this afternoon for his Grow 121. Another opportunity to step onto the pitch, put the work in and invest some time into becoming better.

For young players with ambitions in football and in life, progress rarely comes from one big moment. It’s built through the smaller choices, showing up, being willing to learn, working with purpose and continuing to put the time in even when nobody is watching.

Whatever Hartley’s dream looks like, we’re delighted to play a small part in helping him work towards it. 🙌🏼⬆️⚽️

October is almost here, and with it comes more opportunity to learn, develop and grow.

Every child comes to us at a different stage, with different strengths, challenges and goals. That’s why our Grow 121s are built around the individual.

Whether it’s building confidence, developing technique, working on specific areas of their game or simply helping kids enjoy football more, each session is shaped around the person in front of us, creating an environment where they can be challenged, supported and encouraged to grow.

Niamh, Liam and Grant now have October Grow 121 availability on the Class for Kids page .

To book a session or find out more, send us a message or visit our Class For Kids booking page through the link in our bio or story. ⬆️⚽️

Every journey starts somewhere. For us, the first session isn’t about being the finished player. It’s about being willing to start. To learn, to make mistakes, to be challenged and to keep showing up.

A huge welcome to Bonnyrigg Rose duo, Innes (Bonnyrigg Rose 2018s) and Rory (Bonnyrigg Rose 2019s), who took their first steps into the Grow Football programme over the weekend with their first Grow 121s delivered by Liam. Incredible feedback from both young lads, who enjoyed their first Grow 121s so much that they’re already asking when they can come back! 🌹🙌🏼

For us, that’s what a great first session should feel like. Enjoyment, connection and leaving excited for the next one.

Another reminder of just how important those first impressions can be.

We hope it’s the beginning of a brilliant journey for you both, and we’re looking forward to seeing where it takes you.

A massive thank you as well to every child who joined us across the weekend. As always, we really appreciate the effort, energy and attitude you bring to our sessions.

Another brilliant weekend at Grow Football.

Niamh, Grant and Liams October Grow 121 availability will be live at 9pm tonight. 📱💻⬆️⚽️

It’s easy to overlook just how much courage it can take for a young person to try something new.

Stepping into an unfamiliar environment, meeting a new coach and training in a way that feels different from their usual club sessions can be a big moment. But showing up, giving it a go and allowing themselves to be seen is something to be proud of.

Today, we welcomed Hartley (Hutchison Vale 2017s) to Grow Football as he completed his first Grow 121 with Grant.

Well done, Hartley, we hope you enjoyed your session and look forward to seeing you again soon! 🙌🏼⬆️⚽️

For the young people who come through Grow Football, commitment isn’t about being perfect or getting everything right. It’s about making the choice to keep learning, keep challenging yourself and keep showing up with the attitude to become a little better than you were before.

Every session is another opportunity to invest in yourself, not only as a footballer, but as a person.

A big welcome to Lyle (Dalkeith Thistle 2013s), who joined Liam yesterday for his first Grow 121. Brilliant to have you with us and hopefully the beginning of a really positive journey.

Lyle was one of 12 young people who joined us across a busy afternoon of Grow 121s yesterday, and we’re back at Poltonhall today for another packed day of learning, challenges and development.

October’s Grow 121 availability will be out soon. Keep your eyes on the social media pages and the WhatsApp Channel for announcements. 🙌🏼⬆️⚽️

Over the last few years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside Artlink and supporting so many brilliant young people through football.

The work Artlink does to support children and young people is incredible, and we’re extremely grateful to have the opportunity to play a small part in that journey. It’s a partnership that means a lot to us and one we’re delighted to continue.

A special mention has to go to Zak. Zak has been nothing short of brilliant throughout his time at our sessions. His attendance and commitment have been fantastic, but for me, the real highlight each week has simply been catching up with him, hearing his stories about school, life and, of course, his love for Celtic.

Today, I was delighted to present Zak with a signed Celtic strip as a little recognition of everything he’s brought to our sessions. A huge thank you to Scotty B for taking the time to sign it for him. It’s something we hope Zak will treasure.

As this chapter comes to an end for me personally, I’m proud to hand the baton over to Liam, who will now deliver these sessions on behalf of Grow Football and continue building on the relationships that have been created. 🙌🏼

Thank you to Zak, Artlink and every young person we’ve had the pleasure of working with so far.

We look forward to continuing to learn, connect and grow together.
