Happy ! 🌊

Today, BSAC Environmental Chair Katherine Knight shares a message about why our oceans matter and how divers, snorkellers and ocean enthusiasts can play a part in protecting them.

As people who spend time in and around the water, we’re uniquely placed to be the eyes beneath the surface—helping to monitor, protect and restore our blue planet for future generations.

Take a moment to watch Katherine’s message and join us in celebrating the ocean that connects us all. 💙

Happy from the BSAC Chair Andy Shenstone everyone at Kernow Dive Festival! 🌊💙

The weather may have changed the diving plans, but it certainly didn’t dampen the community spirit. Divers, snorkellers, volunteers, sponsors and supporters came together over the weekend for a beach clean, helping to remove litter from our coastline and doing their bit to protect the ocean we all love.

Together, we’re proving that when the diving community comes together, we can make a real difference above and below the water. 🌍♻️

🌊 Happy World Oceans Day 2026! 🌊

Today, BSAC CEO Mary Tetley and Head of Diving and Training Sophie Heptonstall are celebrating and highlighting why our seas matter so much.

From the kelp forests of Scotland and the rich marine life of Wales, to England’s historic wrecks and Northern Ireland’s stunning coastline, the UK is home to incredible underwater environments that deserve our protection.

As the National Governing Body for scuba diving and snorkelling, BSAC is proud to support thousands of divers and snorkellers who not only explore our underwater world but help protect it too. Through the BSAC Marine Champions programme and the Motion for the Ocean initiative ( ), clubs and members across the UK are taking positive action for our seas through conservation projects, citizen science initiatives, marine life recording, beach cleans and partnerships with environmental organisations. 👏

Every dive and snorkel is an opportunity to connect with the ocean, understand its challenges and become an advocate for its future. 🙌

Watch Mary and Sophie’s World Oceans Day message and join us in celebrating, protecting and caring for our oceans today and every day. 💙🌍

All eyes on a healthy ocean this 🌊

From our coasts and lakes to offshore reefs and wrecks, BSAC divers and snorkellers are uniquely placed to be the eyes underwater. Through citizen science, marine conservation projects, species monitoring, beach cleans and reporting environmental change, our members are helping to build a better understanding of the underwater world and protect it for future generations.

By working together, we can restore what has been lost, protect what remains, and ensure future generations inherit a thriving ocean and a stable climate.

Thank you to every BSAC member who contributes their time, skills and passion to protecting our blue planet.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who joined today’s BSAC Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) Action Day at Llyn Padarn.

As well as helping to protect this special lake by removing INNS and an impromptu litter pick, our volunteers captured some fantastic photos and footage that will support reporting to the Llyn Padarn Forum and help demonstrate the impact of the wider project to stakeholders and partners working to safeguard the lake’s future.

A special shout-out goes to Caroline Parry and the team from The Golden Lion SAC for coordinating the dive management on the day and helping ensure the operation ran smoothly.

Projects like this are only possible because of the dedication, enthusiasm and expertise of BSAC volunteers. Thank you for making a difference both above and below the water. 💙
