This Park • Life • Heavitree page is for anyone who is interested in what goes on in Heavitree Pleasure Ground, Exeter, UK.

Inspired by our view that the park acts as a kind of 'community glue' we have a growing vision that see a community cafe running in the park. As active users of Heavitree Pleasure Ground we see the potential for this to support bringing together the community in and around the park.

Heatwave news 🔥

With such warm conditions this week, we moved some of our regular sessions outside into the shade of the Park Hub gardens 🌳

Attendees of our ‘Chatty and Crafty Tuesdays’, ‘Seniors Coffee Morning’ and ‘Keep on Moving’ groups enjoyed the cool breeze and shade outside. What joy to have beautiful green outdoor spaces on our doorstep to share 💚

Join us for our second clothes swap event, the perfect opportunity to clear out no longer worn items and refresh your wardrobe with some preloved pieces ready for the summer! ☀️

Here’s how it works…..

1. Get into ‘Stacy, Sort your life out mode’ and make a pile of items to donate. Drop these off clean and washed to Park Hub on Friday 12th June from 4-6pm on Saturday 13th June from 10am - midday!

2. Buy your ticket and join us on the night for an evening of alternative sustainable shopping while enjoying a bevvie!

Things to note…
💚 You can purchase tickets on the door but if you know you’re coming, booking ahead helps with our planning.
💚 Please don’t bring items for donation on the night as we need to time to sort and display.
💚 Make a night of it and bring some friends!

A huge thank you for the outpouring of support following the break in yesterday. Your kind words both online and in person really mean a lot, this is what it is to be a community 💚

Our team rallied magnificently and had us back up and running within hours! Yes the boarded up window doesn’t look the best but we’ll be replacing that as soon as we can and the main thing was getting the space cleared up, safe and ready to welcome you back in.

So many people offered their help or asked what they could do. Thank you! 🙏

Park Life Heavitree is a charity and any profit from Park Cafe is reinvested into the charitable work we do locally.

Our vision and mission is to support and grow community. We do this by holding events throughout the year, running groups for all ages in our hub, supporting refugees living locally with time and space to cook their own food and much more.

Find out more here

We rely on the generosity of volunteers and their time and donations at our events or from ticket sales.

You may have noticed our new snazzy tap to pay donation point in the hub! Next time you’re passing, if you’re able and would like to donate towards the work we do here at Park Life Heavitree, centred around the beautiful green space of Heavitree Pleasure Ground, then that would be AMAZING!

Thank you, you lovely lot! Enjoy the bank holiday! Ice creams are stocked and ready 🍦 😎

Sadly Park Cafe was broken into last night and with a window smashed we will need to remain closed until everything is fully cleared up and made safe. The police have been informed.

We’re sorry for the disruption and unexpected closure especially on such a sunny day where iced coffee and ice creams are the order of the day!

As a local business we’re as disappointed as you. We’ll lose trade today and team resource will be taken up dealing with the fall out. BUT we’re working hard to get back to business as usual as soon as possible. Bear with!

Park Life Baby & Toddler Group will go ahead as planned today using the entrances nearest the Hub end.

As a charity, Park Life Heavitree have had the pleasure of collaborating with exetercollege students.

This started with presentations about Park Life to all of their Level 2 Health and Social Care students. It was fantastic to share what Park Life is about and what we do to bring our community together.

As a result, we have been having Exeter College students on Work Experience at Park Life HQ! They have helped with our Senior and Lunch4Life projects as well as helping us with ideas for future events.

The students as part of their course have learnt about our charity and its aims, have researched the importance of providing senior and Asylum Seeker projects and collected lots of donations for L4L.

This was fantastic and very much appreciated.
We are in the process of organising groups of students to visit Park Life as well as some of our community visiting Exeter College.

We look forward to this!!

Open to all adults on the last Tuesday of the month from 2-4pm.
Our next event is Tuesday 26th May. We look forward to seeing you 🤗
