Riverside Girls FC

Well after a very tough start to the season for our under 16s, the girls took on Rossvale this morning in a friendly at home. Our 16s came away with a very well deserved 2-1 victory 🙌.

Every girl on the pitch played with great determination and for each other ! Coaches and parents could not be any prouder of the effort put in today.

Player of the match has been awarded to the whole team as each girl played their part in helping the team get that win 👏

Our under 16s had a wee night at the bowling tonight to mark the start of the easter break and welcome in our newest signings!! Very competitive evening between players and coaches...VAR was definitely needed tonight !!
Well done to Kasei for getting the trophy this evening 👏 rematch same time next year!

They are a lovely group of girls, led by enthusiastic and engaged coaches Chris and David! All players for all positions welcome, but if your girl likes scoring goals, then she is for us 👏

Well done to our U8 girls yesterday who played in very tough, cold, wet and windy conditions. It was clear at the start that it wasn’t very pleasant for them, but they showed great character and battled through brilliantly. 💪⚽️

They worked incredibly hard for each other, with some determined tackling and some lovely passing moves on display. While goals were limited on the day, we were delighted to see Aubrey and Edith get on the scoresheet, and Grace and Elodie both came very close as well. 👏

A big thank you to all the parents who came out to support the girls in that weather — especially on Mother’s Day. Your support means a lot. 🌸

Well done girls!

We travelled through to Lennoxtown this morning to take on Rossvale Yellows in the first round of the League Cup.

Riverside started the game brightly and created a couple of early chances but unfortunately couldn’t take them. Rossvale then took the lead after being awarded a free kick just outside the box, which was well struck to put them ahead.

Half time: Rossvale 1–0 Riverside

In the second half Riverside had the wind behind them and began to pile the pressure on the Rossvale defence. We created a number of chances, with the woodwork and some good goalkeeping keeping us out.

The pressure finally paid off when striker Holly drove through the defence and calmly found the back of the net to bring Riverside level.

Full time finished 1–1, sending the game to penalties.

The girls held their nerve in the shootout, with Evie, Erin and Hannah all converting from the spot, securing a 3–1 win on penalties and sending Riverside through to the next round.

A fantastic effort from the whole squad who kept pushing right until the end. 💪⚽
