‼️ The suns out ‼️

It is looking like it is going to stay very hot this week 🥵 I am still treating as planned and am very grateful for the people that have let me jiggle them around to be able to treat the horses in the cooler hours.

🗓️Please let me know if you would prefer to rearrange to a cooler time if we haven’t already spoken.

🚫 Please note that my cancellation policy is still in place, given the circumstances, I am happy to move sessions to make sure the horses are comfortable. Please don’t just cancel last minute.

🤒Also, due to the recent increase in reported equine influenza cases, please ensure your horse’s vaccinations are up to date and let me know if any cases pop up on your yard or around you.

Thank you for all your help and understanding!

What a brilliant day out at the Frampton Family Riding Club showing show today! ☀️
It was such a lovely event to sponsor, and I'm so glad the rain stayed away!

It was so good to get down, watch some fantastic rounds, and meet so many lovely people. I really enjoyed catching up with everyone and hearing all about your horses, there was some really lovely duos out there today!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat. It was lovely to meet some new faces and catch up with familiar ones too.

Looking forward to doing all again next month! ✨
Now time to chill with my babies 🥰

Very exciting week! I have officially been booked in to do a demo at a pony club camp and a clinic in Cheltenham and I’m really looking forward to it! So excited to meet some new ponies and people 🐴

With spring starting to poke its head out, my April diary is starting to fill up which is amazing!
If you have been thinking about getting your horse booked in, no is a good time to grab a slot before it gets hectic.

I am taking April bookings and still have a few slots for march, so if you would like to get your horse booked in. Drop me a message and we can make sure you get a slot.

A horse that refuses a transition.
A horse that pins its ears when the saddle goes on.
A horse that won’t strike off on the correct leg.
A horse that suddenly starts “napping”, bucking, or resisting work.

What we often label as stubbornness or bad behaviour can often be discomfort, restrictions or pain.

Horses can’t tell us when something is wrong, they show us

Sometimes the most important question isn’t “why won’t they?”
It’s “why can’t they?”

What has made you question if your horse was actually uncomfortable?

I love seeing all the ways you look after your horse, but there are (more than) a few things that definitely make my “physio brain” tick!
We all want our horses to feel their best but sometimes we do things that our horses (and me 👀) have some feelings about!

1️⃣ The one size fits all saddle!
If you tack is doing a world tour of every horse on the yard…. We need to talk! Proper fit isn’t a luxury it’s a necessity.

2️⃣ The 0 to 100 (and back)
Skipping the warm up or cool down is like us rolling out of bed and trying to do a marathon. Our muscles need that prep to keep them at their best!

3️⃣ The “consistency” myth
Doing the stretches exactly three times in the month between my visits doesn’t quite count as a daily routine ;)
Small and regular makes the biggest difference.

4️⃣ The mystery lameness
“I think he’s just being lazy” is a sentence that makes my spine twitch. Sudden behaviour changes or resistance are often your horse trying to tell you something isn’t right.

Your horse doesn’t need perfection! Just thoughtful and consistent care 🥰
And if your physio brain is ticking while reading this…… welcome to the team ;)

Not every “naughty” behaviour is actually naughty 😈

Sometimes the horse that …..
🎠 wont stand next to the mounting block
🎠 feels lazy
🎠bunny hops into canter
🎠pulled a face when you tack up
🎠tosses their head

…… might just be trying to tell us something about how their body feels.

Behaviour is their communication 📣

Does your horse do any of these? Which one? Let me know in the comments, maybe we can work it out 👀

One of the biggest lessons being an equine physio has taught me is that behaviour changes are information and communication.

Sometimes it’s pain
Sometimes it’s confusion
Sometimes it’s something subtle that’s been building for a while

But 90% of the time there’s a reason

I’m curious 🧐 what was the behaviour change that made you realise that something else was going on and what was it?

Frustration is loud. Understanding is quiet.

It’s easy to label behaviour when you’re in the middle of it. But most of the time, it’s not attitude, it’s confusion, discomfort or they just don’t understand something yet.

The real progress starts when we stop reacting and start investigating. When we take the time to find the root of the issue, the transformation can be incredible.

What’s something your horse has taught you the hard way?

If you’ve ever found yourself squinting at a horse in a field from a mile away….. you might be an equine physio 🙋‍♀️

It’s not obsessive, it’s just thorough!
