On The Dry Day of the week the Surrey senior scratch team started their 2026 campaign with an away match against Kent at the slopey West Kent Golf Club. A few of us had played there a few years ago when Kent hosted the jamboree but this busy time of the season had meant we hadn’t been able to get a practice round played. Luckily the recent rain had tamed the slopes a little and the course was in lovely condition. While matches against Kent in the last few years have been close we have always come second, but I’m delighted to report a 4-2 win today – an encouraging start to our season. As an added bonus we were delighted to welcome Jenny Justice to her first senior scratch match albeit a tough match against Tita McCart.
Our next match is against Hampshire on July 9th at Basingstoke.
Thank you to .golf for a great competitive match as always and for hosting us.

Normally seen organising events, vice captain Ann Waite and Mandy Hiscocks were invited to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Roehampton golf club. A wonderful day with golf in between the rain. The team even came 3rd albeit behind ! Thank you and here is to your next 125 years 🎉🎉

It was a hot and humid day at Purley Downs for our match vs Middlesex
Some tough battles and remarkable fight backs resulted in a very hard fought 2-2 draw.
Our team of Sue Hong, Trudi Proud,Dianne Morgans,Chris Jenkins,Delena Keenan , Jenny Carson,Kath Lucey and Lisa Cheung kept smiling through gruelling heat.
Course was in fine shape and the breakfast rolls and post match cake was very well received.
Thank you to .golf for a fun match

Solveig posted a gross score of 76 and a nett of 67:
