Huge congratulations to Woking who beat Burhill in the final of the Hicks Plate. It was a very tight match with one match heading to the 19th which Woking managed to win to secure the overall result. Some excellent golf played by both sides. Thank you to Farleigh who presented the course in very good condition.

Congratulations to the Hicks Trophy finalists who battled it out today at Croham Hurst GC. Conditions were perfect and the course was in excellent condition and we also witnessed some excellent and competitive golf. Annabel Peaford was recently back from Junior Solheim and heading to Canada tomorrow to represent England at world team championships. However our 1st team captain, Katie Laud, showed tremendous grit to push Annabel to the 16th green. Three matches reached the 18th green but Walton Heath players managed to come out on top and won 5-0 although this score doesn’t reflect how close the match was. Well done to both teams and good luck to Walton Heath who will be representing Walton Heath, Surrey and England at the European club of the year next weekend in Germany.

Congratulations to the England Senior Women’s and Senior Men’s teams who regained the Home Internationals title at Royal St David’s in Wales this week.

The Senior Women and Senior Men recorded a clean sweep of victories against the other three home nations ensuring they won their respective events, as well as the combined title.

We are very proud of Surrey player and SWG director, Julia Brook, who contributed four points from six matches played. Well played, Julia!

The SWG autumn meeting at Farnham GC was played in beautiful golfing weather. This better ball pairs event was well supported with 72 players taking part. Our winners, Nicola Tierney and Belinda Corbin scored an excellent 44 points winning on count back from Jenny Carson and Stephanie Fuller. In third place were Caroline Martin and Carol Slade with 43 points on count back from Anne Marie Reading and Gill Doyle. In fifth place on count back with 42 points were Hasoon Curtis and Soo Swankie.

Nearest the pin on 3rd was won by Carol Slade and on 13th by Elizabeth de Bay.

Our thanks go to the members and staff at Farnham who made us feel most welcome.

Good luck to Julia Brooks playing in the last day of the Home Internationals at Royal St David’s Golf Club. Both the Senior Women and the combined Men and Women’s team are just behind Ireland in the table on game points. So it’s the decider today as England take on Ireland. Good luck Julia and the whole team
