Haslemere Karate Academy

Last week was exactly 20 years ago that we hosted a visiting group of Wado karate students from Tokyo, Japan for the evening, at our Haslemere dojo.
We did some demos, so did they and we then trained together for a couple of hours together.
A great evening...this short Idori demo was a crowd pleaser!
We train every Wednesday evening term time at Shottermill Junior School.

An excellent 5 days of intense training at the Winter Course in Guildford this last week.
Lovely to see & train again with our Wado family from so many countries.
The clubs had 3 students taking 2nd Dan at the end of the course.
Sadly Tom & Greg didn't make the grade this time, but congratulations to Nick who passed at the second attempt.
Well done for taking on the challenge gents, and thanks to all from the clubs who attended during the week and the instructors for their knowledge. 🙏👌👍👏

We always used to say nobody fails their red belt...12 years ago, Luke as a 6 year old kid, was the first who actually did!
Last night aged 18, he passed his 3rd kyu brown belt with flying colours.
He showed great technique and his karate couldn't be more different now! 👊
Well done Luke! 👏👏👏

We said farewell to our inspirational "Jion" Aldershot Karate Academy instructor, Dr Graham Hopkins yesterday.
He had more letters after his name than most have in them & his list of achievements seemed endless.

Well done to all of our students who attended the excellent Wado Academy summer course last week in Weston-super-Mare.
Training was hard work & challenging, but had a great atmosphere over the 5 days and nice to have Sano Sensei from Japan join us.
Well done to all who graded after the intense course.
Erik Abrams was awarded an honorary 2nd Dan during the course...he still trains several times a week at age 76 and has decades of experience, but always smiling & happy to help others.
Nick & Alex didn't pass their 2nd Dan, but will be back and were unlucky this time round. Both showed great character & spirit and turned up for training the next day...we couldn't be prouder of all of them. 👍👊
