Would you believe there are bottles hidden beneath this reef? ♻️🪸

In places where glass recycling isn't readily available, TRACC coral reef restoration has turned discarded bottles into artificial reef structures that provide a stable base for rescued corals to grow.

Over time, the coral grows across the bottles until many divers don't even notice they're there.
It's a simple idea that shows how creative conservation can turn a problem into part of the solution 💪

Ghost nets don't disappear when they're lost.

These images, captured during documentation dives by Fourth Element Pioneer Sabine Kerkau show ghost nets covering historic wrecks in the Baltic Sea. Hidden beneath the surface, these lost fishing nets continue to catch and kill marine life long after they've been abandoned.

Through the Baltic Sea Heritage Rescue Project, Sabine and her team are working to remove these nets and protect both the sea's wildlife and its underwater heritage.
