*MATCH REPORT*
The owls faced a tough test in the opening game of the season and with a few faces missing from the squad, the boys knew it would be a tough fixture to begin the season.
But the boys carried on from the fantastic end of season and pre season form, scoring just after 6 minutes after Josh Perry scoring from close range to put The Owls 1-0 up. Then just 5 minutes later, a fantastic cross from Ethan Walters was met from the leap of Josh Perry again, who headed the ball over the keeper across the goal to make it 2-0 after just 11 minutes, a perfect start for the away side. Mawgan didn’t step off the gas, as Ethan Walters made it a hatrick of assists as Stan Burtenshaw volleyed the corner into the back off the net to make it 3-0, 14 minutes played. Not long after, The Owls carried on the pressure, as a fantastic long ball over the top from Josh Hichens met Stan Burtenshaw, who lobbed the keeper to make it 4 goals in 20 minutes for the away side. A brilliant first half display from the whole team as Hayle were kept quiet.
The second half became a lot more even and Hayle had more chances and managed to get one back to make it 4-1 after 62 mins played from a nice free kick. But Mawgan managed to see the game out to make it a strong victory on the opening game of the season.
Man of the Match goes to Josh Perry for a fantastic two goals and being a constant threat to the Hayle backline.
