Good afternoon we’re delighted to report that we had a successful afternoon yesterday away to Ludgvan, both teams had opened the season with away day wins so we knew it would be a challenging fixture.
Our starting 11 went out and started brightly as we continued to play the short sharp game that has served us well. We had good prolonged spells of possession but we’re guilty of making the wrong choice in the wrong areas and we found ourselves vulnerable to Ludgvans more direct game.
We went in at the break 2-0 up thanks to Lois⚽️ and Tilly⚽️ who both had positive games today. The stop / start nature of the game was never going to help our pressing style. We rightly started the second half with some changes we must develop the group and all of them are capable players. We always knew that Katie’s pace would be a real threat and indeed it was !! Her second goal 👀 what a finish and with intent too, she meant it. At 2-2 the game could of gone one of two ways and although it’s a stressful watch the education it gives the players is invaluable, you remained relaxed, didnt panic and had belief in playing the right way and create further waves of attack. We’ve still got along way to go as far as making the most of every possible opportunity we probably wasted 3 very good goal scoring chances and we all know on another day that may be the difference.
We put the game beyond doubt through
Louella ⚽️
Beth ⚽️
Aalayah ⚽️.
The positives, we secured a good result against a team that will definitely take points from other clubs competing for this league, we got strong minutes into every one today.
We now enjoy today’s result and we plan again working on the areas that need immediate attention. We must remind ourselves that 14 of the 16 players today are 16-19 years old! We’re a very young group.
In summary two wins from two multiple goal scorers in our 11 goals and some really good performances. Our WOTM was central midfielder Aalayah Young who had a dominant display in the middle
We now look forward to our first home match on Sunday 20th as we welcome St. Agnes Ladies reserves.
Thank you to Chris for being our linesman this afternoon and a belated thank you to Rob for kindly taking the flag last Sunday away to Padstow.
