Just a quick Rugby Update!

Pre-season training has been fantastic and well attended this year!

With the national heatwave, the pitches up and down the country became too hard to play rugby on, so the RFU postponed the start of the competitive rugby season by two weeks.

All being well and good, the season's first grassroots competitive rugby games will be played from the week of the 21st September - most matches being played the weekend of the 26th September

This doesn’t (if the ground is playable) stop pre-season friendlies - We were planning a double-header away friendly fixture with Woodbridge RUFC on the 22nd August, Senior Men's game and the Woodbridge Amazons v Ipswich YM Wyverns.
Both clubs agreed to push the matches back a little, and if the variable weather continues, hopefully the two games will take place on the 5th September at Hatchley Barn.

The Y&J rugby season will start as planned at 10 am on Sunday 6th September; everybody there is looking forward to getting back to rugby

Our senior men's updated fixtures will soon be completed and come through from Eastern Counties; the 1st XV are through; we’re just waiting for the Hawks fixtures. Once they are with us, we’ll publish both sets of updated matches.

Wyverns have their first game on the 18th October at Bury St Edmunds II, before their first home fixture on Sunday 15th November!

Not surprisingly, a slow start to the 2026/27 season, but player safety has to come first

We still have tickets available for 2 of England's home games in the autumn internationals / nations championship this November as well as tickets for the finals weekend at Twickenham for the inaugural Nations Championship on the weekend of the Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November

The Internationals take place at Twickenham on the following dates with the kick off listed below

Sunday 8th November 2026 - England v Australia - kick off 1510. Price of tickets - Adult £114

Saturday 14th November 2026 - England v Japan - kick off 1640 . Price of tickets- Adult £69

Please note that to apply for tickets you need to be a fully paid up member of the club.

The club have also bought some tickets for the Saturday and Sunday fixtures in the Nations Championship finals. Each day consists of 2 games and your ticket covers both games.

Saturday 28th November starting at 1310 and consisting of 2 games

1310 :- 5th Place Northern Hemisphere v 5th place Southern Hemisphere and then at 1640 : - 2nd Place Northern Hemisphere v 2nd Place Southern Hemisphere. The day ticket prices are £139.90and we have a few tickets at the front for £89.80

Sunday 29th November starting at 1310 and consisting of 2 games

1310 :- 4th Place Northern Hemisphere v 4th place Southern Hemisphere and then at 1640 : - 1st Place Northern Hemisphere v 1st Place Southern Hemisphere. We have a few tickets at the front for £114.90
