All outdoor sports are cancelled today due to the freezing temperatures making the surfaces unplayable. Even without the snow they would be as hard as concrete with no movement in the pile of the Astro carpet fibres and this is what makes them unusable.

Important site information

The Street directly outside of Ipswich School Sports Centre is closed from the roundabout on Playford Road and there is no access to the site from that direction. You can only access the site from the Humber Doucy Lane and Rushmere Road roundabout, this will be for the next 4 weeks.

We have also had our first frost overnight in Rushmere and as a reminder please be aware that the outside sport surfaces do become unplayable at that point with risk of injury. All eyes will be on the weather forecasts and surface inspections from here on.
We normally would know by early afternoon if the playing surfaces will be out of use and the hirer will be informed but we sometimes get caught out by sudden changes. Please bare with us if this is the case and inform the Duty Officer on site if conditions change whilst on site. No one wants to be hurt on a playing surface that is as hard as concrete or that has reduced grip for footwear.
