Since been diagnosed with Epilepsy 3 years ago & trying to come to terms with the condition, I've decided this year I'm on a fundraising mission to raise money for The Epilepsy Society π
The charity helps transform the lives of people with epilepsy through world-leading research, advocacy and care.
A non-visible disability like Epilepsy is a disability that is not always immediately obvious. It can defy stereotypes of what people might think disabled people look like.
People with non-visible disabilities want to be treated with respect and as individuals just like people with visible disabilities and the general population. Even though you cannot see evidence of a disability, the disability still exists.
Many people with epilepsy can manage their condition effectively and lead fulfilling lives with the right combination of treatment & lifestyle/work adjustments.
The physical reality of a disability does not inherently stop someone from athletic achievement, but external societal and environmental barriers routinely hold disabled people back from participating in sport.
Regular exercise provides significant physical, emotional, and potential neurological benefits for people with epilepsy, helping to improve overall health and quality of life.
My fundraising total is currently at Β£1,442 &
I can't wait to take part in the Great South Run in October.
All donations to this great charity will be very much appreciated π
