Merseyrail We operate the trains on the Wirral and Northern Lines in Merseyside.

Running almost 800 trains per day and carrying over 100,000 passengers on an average weekday, Merseyrail is one of the most punctual and reliable railway networks in the UK and also tops the passenger satisfaction levels league table. Operating 66 stations, including 4 Liverpool city centre underground stations, we give easy access to work, shopping and leisure in Merseyside.

We're Passenger Operator of the Year!🎉

Last night we were crowned Passenger Operator of the Year at the National Rail Awards 2026, one of the rail industry's most prestigious and highly sought-after awards🏆

This achievement recognises the dedication, professionalism and commitment shown by colleagues across the organisation every day to deliver a safe, reliable and customer-focused railway.

And the celebrations didn’t stop there - we were also highly commended in two categories!

🚆 Outstanding Teamwork Award for delivering Grand National 2025 safely and efficiently.

The Freshfields Petmobile is coming to a station near you! 🐶🐱🐰

As one of our Charities of the Year, Freshfields Animal Rescue will be bringing its Petmobile service to a number of stations across our network over the coming weeks - with its first visit coming up next Monday at Maghull!

Get free advice and support for your cats, dogs and rabbits from qualified animal welfare professionals. From health, behaviour and training to microchipping, neutering and pet care guidance, the team is here to help.
