📸 Through Our Eyes now on display at Southport Station

A powerful photography exhibition capturing journeys between Southport and Liverpool, seen through the lens of blind and partially sighted people.

Created by volunteers from the Merseyside Sight Loss Council, the display showcases images taken along the railway line. Some are presented in two ways: the original photograph, and how the same scene might appear to someone living with sight loss.

This inspiring project highlights that photography is about perspective, creativity, and understanding the different ways we all experience the world.

“It matters because railways connect people and railway stations are important for communities.”💛

We’re incredibly proud to be working with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Network Rail and our dedicated volunteers to care for stations on the Merseyrail network - for our customers, local communities and the environment.

We’re incredibly proud to see Alex Rigby recognised with a British Empire Medal in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours.

Through Running the Railways, Alex has raised more than £80,000 for Centre 56, supporting families affected by domestic abuse across our region.

It’s a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose. From running to every station on the Northern Line to covering more than 100 miles across our network, Alex’s determination has made a real difference to families who need it most.

And it’s not over yet… Running the Railways returns later this month with an even bigger challenge.

Starting at 5pm on Friday 26 June, Alex and the team will run a 5k every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours – finishing at 5pm on Saturday.

They’ll cover around 120km between Freshfield and Hightown, aiming to raise at least £1,000 for every hour they run. Our colleagues will be there too, giving their time to support this important cause.
