Today saw a very physical game for our U9's where we welcomed Llandovery to Cae Carwyn. A huge well done to all of the boys for their efforts, we’re incredibly proud of them, as always! 💪

🟢 Man of steel this week was Jacson.
Jacson put a few lovely tackles in and an absolute beauty of a try saving tackle on his first appearance, too! Outstanding 👏.

🟡 Player of the week went to Noa.
Noa once again worked his socks off and made multiple barnstorming runs, which created space for our dangerous runners.

Da iawn 👏

🟢🟡 U13’s A TALE OF TWO TEAMS! 🏉

Two games, two completely different performances and plenty of lessons to take away from another eventful morning of rugby!

Today we welcomed Birchgrove for our first-ever encounter, alongside our good friends from Genech Wanderers, who we were more than happy to accommodate at short notice following the cancellation of their fixture.

Our opening game against Birchgrove was a tough one. We fell well below the standards we know this group is capable of, struggling to find any rhythm or momentum from the first whistle.
But once again, what a response from these boys! 💪🔥
A complete change in mindset saw a completely different Cefen side take to the field for our second game!
Every single player stepped up, showing 110% commitment, ferocious defending, huge collisions, relentless work rate and some outstanding attacking flair. The transformation was incredible, and the boys showed exactly what they’re capable of when they play with confidence, determination and belief! 👏

🏆 PLAYER OF THE MATCH – BIG ALFF MACMILLAN
A fantastic effort across both games! Defensively outstanding, putting in some massive tackles while working tirelessly in attack.
His commitment and hard work throughout the season deserved a reward, and what better way to get it than a long-overdue try following an outstanding driving maul!
A brilliant performance and a thoroughly deserved recognition! 👏🔥

🛡️ MEN OF STEEL – LUKE, ELIS & LITTLE ALFF JONES
Three absolute warriors today! 💪
An incredible defensive effort across both games. The sheer number of tackles these boys put in was phenomenal, with some of the biggest hits we’re likely to see all season!
Good old-fashioned forwards rugby at its finest. Physical, fearless, relentless and absolutely smashing everything in front of them! 🔥

🏉 TODAY’S RESULTS
🔴 Cefen 0–36 Birchgrove
🟢 Cefen 21–12 Genech Wanderers

Plenty to work on, plenty to be proud of, and another valuable morning of rugby under our belts.
A big thank you to Birchgrove and Genech Wanderers for two great games, and best of luck for the rest of the season! 🤝

🟢🟡 FULL TIME | CEFNEITHIN U13s 40–17 FELINFOEL U13s 🟢🟡
🏉 A game of two halves!

A challenging first half for the boys today as we rotated players into different positions to develop our squad depth and give everyone opportunities to grow.
A few too many mistakes saw us head into the break trailing 0–17.

But what a response! 💪🔥
A half-time mindset reset, a change in attitude and the boys came out absolutely firing! An outstanding second-half performance saw us run in 40 unanswered points to complete a brilliant comeback!

🏆 PLAYERS OF THE MATCH – OSCAR & ELIS 🏆
⭐ OSCAR – Making his first start for the team, Oscar brought fantastic energy with ball in hand, producing some brilliant runs down the wing and showing excellent commitment in defence. A player growing in confidence every week, always with a smile on his face! 👏
⭐ ELIS – A superb all-round performance in both attack and defence. Running hard at the defensive line, beating defenders and producing some outstanding offloads to create opportunities for his teammates. Topped it off with a brilliant 50-metre try from the back of a scrum at No. 8.

👏 A massive well done and thank you to the boys who stepped in to play for Felinfoel today. Every one of them gave 100%, played brilliantly and showed fantastic sportsmanship. A real credit to themselves and the team!
Plenty to learn from that first half, but the character, determination and teamwork shown in the second was outstanding!
