Talia Andrea is a DJ, Producer and founder of FEMMESTIVAL and HYPERLINK who has curated this years' sound of Blackhorse Creates.
Head down to Blackhorse Workshop for a day full of local, upcoming and exciting artists alongside our Open Studios, Blacksmithing Demo's and Family Making Activities. Talia has lined up a full breadth of genres with each performer rooted in soul and good vibes.

SATURDAY PROGRAMME:
We will be taking over part of to create a room full of activities looking at how creativity can be a tool for change.
will be joined by two Demi and Alexis, two Blackhorse Responders from 2024. They have been working together to co-design a public installation taking place at the (soon-to-be) new and will be running creative activities on Saturday 19th September.
Historically in town planning, green spaces were imagined as the 'lungs of London' creating spaces to breath and belong in the city. Using concrete poetry, create song lyrics about how the city, the neighbourhood, the park and the pavement makes you feel.

From next week, Make Stuff Club Autumn 2026 we will be collaborating with Blackhorse Workshop based designer .
This Is Byron is a design informed maker specialising utilising waste material to create new products and furniture. Make Stuff Club SEN is a creative, weekly after school club for children.
We will be designing small chairs or stools using wood for the skeleton framework and developing our own cardboard mulch to create their final design.
Mondays at 4:30 - 5:30pm (Starting 7th September)
Wednesdays at (Home Ed) & 1:30 - 3pm (SEN) & 4 - 5pm (Starting 9th September)
We’ll be learning tools such as measuring tape, handsaw, coping saw, hand-held drills, pillar drill, belt-sander, chisel, hammer.

Over several months .glykofridi has been situating themselves within the making at Blackhorse Workshop to collect the sounds, the textures and the loud noises of the ever-expansive making based here.
Blackhorse Creates weekend the piece will be exhibited for the FIRST TIME.
Join us on Saturday 19th September anytime between 12-5pm to engage with the interactive soundscape exploring the sounds and textures of the Blackhorse workshop
environment. The piece considers how the workshop sounds over time, and how we may recognise the presence of others through subtle audio cues.

Come and see artist Nicola Morrison at work and discover what she has been working on as part of her residency. Nicola's art residency is based in Barbican Group Arts Trust, a home to many artists.
Her work features paintings which explore nature as an integral part of the city and she's opening up her studio for ONE DAY!
Ever wondered what artists do on a residency? How they work in a new space? Come down and you can ask all your questions to the artist directly.

SATURDAY PROGRAMME:
Family Make Stuff is back for a Blackhorse Creates special!
Inspired by projects made in our last Make Stuff Club term, join us to design and produce your very own puppetss.
Both you and your child will learn how to measure and mark your wood, use handsaws and coping saws to cut out your puppet parts and pull together using hand-held drills. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned DIY'er, this is a lovely, supportive space for families to create and make together.
Join us either 10am-12pm or 2-4pm for 2 hours of designing, making, woodworking and fun!

More Introduction to Joinery dates just went live 🪚✨
Running September & October for anyone on the waitlist wanting to get into woodworking this year.
We’ll cover biscuit joints, mortise and tenon, dovetails over four relaxed evening sessions or two full weekend days. This course introduces the basics of woodworking to get you set up to start working on your own projects.

Blacksmithing Demonstrations are BACK for the weekend of Blackhorse Creates!
Join us at 1pm, 2pm or 3pm for an up close demonstration of the forge learning about the historical heritage craft dating back to the Iron Age.
You will meet one of our new blacksmithing tutors, Isabella Bussoni, a London-based blacksmith specialising in hand forged art pieces and bespoke commissions alongside teaching Blacksmithing at a School in North London.
Our wonderful technician team have also extended our forge area with a concreted platform meaning more anvils, more forges and more making!

By and for qu**rs who are curious about metalwork looking for a safe, supportive environment to learn new skills. What better time to join us than over our Blackhorse Creates Weekend running 17th-20th September.
You'll have a one-off 3 hour session using the plasma cutter and learning to weld to produce your very own candleabra masterpiece!

Pedalling from venue to venue with all of their set props and costumes on the back of their bikes. the HandleBards are a four-strong troupe of actors who are spending the summer bringing environmentally sustainable Shakespeare to venues across the UK.
Join the troupe here at Blackhorse Workshop for a fantastically funny bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare's 'As You Like It'. In the Forest of Arden the stage is set for a full-throttle joyride of wooing hilarious mistaken identity and the odd wrestling match.

FRIDAY-SUNDAY PROGRAMME
'Colour Lab: from waste to value by Chroma Waste Lab x Colour of Saying'
An exhibition demonstrating research and design on waste textiles becoming new pigments, dyes, and inks.
Discover the science behind it, find out what the pigment looks like, explore how designers and makers could put it to work!
Switchboard Studios: 12-6pm
Why not pop by on Friday for a FREE workshop getting hands-on experience with dyed experiments and ink trials whilst learning the science and stories behind milled cotton pigment told by the researchers themselves!
Friday Drop-in workshops run: 1pm, 3pm & 5pm.
On Saturday you could join Laura Perryman to build a 'moodworld'; a palette experimenting with how pre-owned colours can inspire design. You'll work with waste-derived pigments and CMF (Colour, Material & Finish) samples to explore where colour could go next.

Blackhorse Creates is a weekend celebration of design, making and creativity in and around Blackhorse Lane, E17.
You are invited today discover, learn and engage through workshops, installations that talks, exhibitions and open studios.
This year the programme celebrates design and manufacturing excellence and highlights opportunities for young people to access skills, careers and pathways into creative industries locally.

Inducting our Blackhorse Responders into woodwork and metalwork at the start of the summer. The programme sees young people learning how to use crafting as a tool for activating social change in their local area.
