🚨 LIT FLORIDA INTL 7s TEAM CONFIRMED: BLITZBIRDS BLUES 🔥 🚨

We’re excited to welcome back the Blitzbirds Blues from Pelican Rugby to the 2026 LIT Florida International 7s, where they’ll compete in the Men’s Open division!

Based in St. Petersburg, the team hails from Pelican Rugby, which was founded in 1977 and has become one of Florida’s longest-standing rugby clubs, with generations of players representing the Tampa Bay rugby community.

Even better, the Pelicans are official tournament partners of LIT Florida International 7s, helping us grow the tournament and rugby in the local Florida community. 🤝🌴

And they’re not just bringing history to Bradenton — they’re bringing a strong recent record too. 🔥

💪 Currently fields both D2 & D3 men’s teams
🏆 Both sides reached their respective Florida State Finals in 2025
🌴 Nearly 50 years of rugby in the Tampa Bay community

Now the Blitzbirds Blues are swapping 15s for 7s and heading to Bradenton to test themselves against a growing Men’s Open field.

🚨 LIT FLORIDA INTL 7s TEAM CONFIRMED: ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY 🔥 🚨

They came within one game of the title last year. Now STU is coming back for another shot. 👀🏆

We’re excited to welcome St. Thomas University (STU) back to the 2026 LIT Florida International 7s, where they’ll step into the Men’s Elite division! 🌴🏉

Established in 2022, STU has quickly built one of the most successful emerging collegiate rugby programs in the country — going from a new program to two national titles in just three years.

And they already know what it takes to make a run in Florida:

🏆 2025 D1-AA 15s National Champions
🏆 2025 CRAA 7s National Champions
🥈 2025 LIT Florida International 7s Finalists

Last year, STU battled their way into the LIT Florida final but finished one game short of the trophy.

In August, we brought the LIT USA community together in Fort Lauderdale for an unforgettable USA Rugby weekend.

Now we’re doing it all again — this time in NASHVILLE! 🔥

On October 24, our LIT USA Ambassadors are heading to GEODIS Park for a huge international doubleheader:
