Remember when you could eat whatever you wanted and not gain weight?

Yeah… me too.

Unfortunately after 40 the rules change.

But that doesn’t mean getting older means getting unfit..

It means you need a smarter approach.

That’s where coaching helps.

23/07/2026

After 15 years of coaching men, we've learned too many stories that start the same way:

“I knew something wasn’t right… I just ignored it”.

That’s the sad part.
Not because they failed – but because if action had been taken sooner, a lot of physical and mental health issues could’ve been avoided.

Your body always whispers before it screams.

• If your posture is getting worse – you don’t rest, you need strength.

• If your energy is always low – your fitness is being neglected.

• If your sleep is poor – more daily movement will help more than you think.

• If you feel bloated or heavier than you should – your nutrition needs a reset.

These aren’t “getting older” problems.
They’re warning lights.

Ignore them long enough and they’ll get louder – and harder to fix.

Here’s where most men overcomplicate things.

The fix starts simple:

✔︎ Drink more water
✔︎ Eat proper, simple food
✔︎ Walk outside without your phone
✔︎ Start getting fitter and stronger
✔︎ Protect your sleep – even an hour earlier helps

It might sound basic…
But basic and consistent is exactly what works in your 40s, 50s and beyond.

Looking after yourself isn’t selfish.
It makes you calmer, sharper, more confident – and better for everyone around you.

✨ Meet Glyn ✨

Glyn joined Lean Body Training looking for something he could finally stick with ✅

“Gym memberships being paid every month to a national gym chain was easy, but never motivated me to actually show up!”

The small group personal training format led by Paul, Mario and Lucy gave me accountability to go - and a training structure that worked.

You can get the personal attention you need, without the expense or the intimidation of being one on one with a personal trainer for a long session on your own.

Everyone's welcoming to new joiners, because we've all been there at some point.

We have different backgrounds but are all in our 40s to 60s and there's natural cameraderie as we persevere through the sessions together.

It's motivating to try to keep up with the next guy or ahead of another guy, but nobody in the group is the best at everything or the worst at everything.

The efficient routines make you want to build healthy habits in other parts of your life so you don't undo the good work you're doing in the sessions.

After a couple of years going twice a week, you've been to the gym 200 times for structured training and made some new friends.

Sure, you can tell yourself you could have just DIY'd that with a plan from YouTube or Insta, for free. But come on. You're 40+ and that's old enough to know when you're kidding yourself! “

Ever avoid looking at yourself in the mirror?

Not because you’re lazy.

Not because you don’t care.

But because deep down you know you’ve let things slip.

The extra weight.

The lack of energy.

The clothes that don’t fit like they used to.

Most men don’t need more motivation.

They need a plan and someone to keep them accountable.

That’s exactly what we do at Lean Body Training.

Most men think they need a massive transformation.

They don’t.

Lose 5-8lbs.

Walk more.

Train 3 times per week.

Drink more water.

The big results come from small actions repeated consistently.

Simple works 💪

Is Alcohol Affecting Your Weight?

Is Alcohol Affecting Your Weight Loss? - Lean Body Training Is Alcohol Affecting Your Weight Loss? When you’re trying to lose weight, the standard and obvious advice of “eat fewer calories than you use up” still applies largely, but not all calories are created equal when it comes to the effect on our bodies. For example, 200 calories will have a diffe...

Full body conditioning session and once again these guys didn’t disappoint 💪

Every week they show up, do the work & push themselves a bit.

For a lot of these guys, it’s not just about building their chest and biceps…

It’s about:

• Dropping body fat
• Lower stress after a long day / busy week
• Improving blood pressure and overall health
• Getting their energy up ⬆️
• And feeling proud of what they see in the mirror again

Most of them started exactly where many men are right now…

Busy, tired, out of routine and not sure where to start..

But they took that first step.

And that’s where things started to change.

Men over 40🔥— this is why training matters…
and why motivation will eventually let you down.

After 40, your body doesn’t “bounce back” anymore.

Muscle mass drops.
Testosterone declines.
Recovery slows.
Fat sticks around longer.

Energy isn’t what it used to be.

If you don’t train, you don’t stay the same —
you slowly go backwards.

And here’s the mistake most men make…
They wait for motivation.

Motivation is emotional.

It depends on sleep, stress, work, weather, and mood.

That’s fine in your 20s.
It doesn’t work after 40.

Because life is busy.

You’re tired.

You’ve got responsibilities.

And no one is coming to push you.

Men who stay strong, sharp, lean, and capable in their 40s, 50s, and beyond don’t rely on motivation — they rely on structure.

They train because it’s scheduled.
They train because it’s part of their lifestyle.
They train because they know the cost of stopping.

Training after 40 isn’t about chasing six-packs.

It’s about:

• Keeping strength so daily life feels easy
• Protecting your joints and your back
• Managing stress and sleep
• Being present and active with your kids

You don’t need extreme workouts.

You don’t need to always “feel like it”.

You need consistency, coaching, and accountability.

That’s how men stay sharp as they age.

If you’re over 40 and you know you should be training —

but motivation keeps letting you down —
it’s time to stop relying on feelings and start relying on structure ✅

This week we wanted to share with you a client of ours success.

Niraj is similar to lot of clients that we coach on our programmes.

He has a demanding job and a busy lifestyle.

He joined gyms on and off for years but frequently would plateau, lose motivation and then stopped going.

However, this time having a trainer, losing body-fat and taking away the guesswork we’re changes that he needed to make at this stage of his life.

He then tried out our intro 28 day coaching programme and has since continued with us.

During the transformation process Niraj has lost a cool 9kg in 14 weeks, gained strength and lost inches around the waist.

With a lot of guys we first meet, all it takes is a level of commitment to get them past stage one — that important stage when you start seeing changes.

These alone are so motivational and will carry you forward.

There are many guys who email or speak to us regularly about having issues with feeling lethargic and de-motivated and who have gained some unwanted weight.

No matter how much they’ve done in the past on their own, they don’t seem to be achieving and seeing the ongoing progress that they’re hoping for.

If you’ve been thinking recently about getting involved in a structured programme focused on exercise and nutrition

Then get in touch about how we can help you get in shape around your your lifestyle.

Too busy to exercise?

Maybe.

But are you too busy to be healthier?

Too busy to lower your blood pressure.

Too busy to be around longer for your family?

The truth is nobody has spare time

The successful ones make the time.
