Foyle Valley Archery Club

Really nice night at the club. A few 3Ds put out at relatively short distances to give our members who haven't tried 3D yet an introduction.

Forecast is good for this evening. Unless things take a turn for the worse, we will be shooting tonight.

That's another great wee 3D shoot in the bag. I had laid a fairly short but technical course. Lots of uphill and downhill shots and a few properly nasty ones between trees and in the undergrowth. There was even one where the target was so well camouflaged that only its white face made it stand out from the tree behind. Some great scores recorded and one or two arrows lost, can't wait for the next one. Thanks to everyone who turned up and for all the help that you gave to clear up at the end.

Due to forecast thunderstorms this evening archery is cancelled today. Best not to be stood in a field with a big lump of metal when there is chance of lightning ⛈️

That's the Northern Ireland Field Archery Championship off to a flying start. Our archers gathered in the extensive grounds of Oakgrove Integrated College this morning to shoot a Field Round. The weather started off fine and warm but overcast with a very challenging and changeable breeze. The course was deceptively tricky with uphill and downhill shots between trees bushes. After lunch time there were a few torrential showers, the kind that gets you soaked to the skin without bothering with your clothes first. Thankfully the warm breeze had strengthened and some of us got a blow dry as we finished the round. Photos to follow after the Hunter Round tomorrow.

No archery tonight folks. There is to be a rally in the town starting at 7pm and there is the potential for unrest. Sorry for the late notice, just found out in the last few minutes.
