At Sylk Dance Academy we offer street dance classes from beginner to advanced, with exams via the United Dance Organisation. We also have groups and individuals entering competitions around the country. Our friendly, supportive and uplifting dance school is open to dancers of any ability. We ensure every child is given the attention and encouragement they deserve no matter what their goals are. Our wide range of classes offer suitable options for dancers who wish to make friends, build confidence and dance for fun, to those who wish to compete and perform professionally.

It’s not just a disco, we put so much effort in to making sure there is enough entertainment for the full 1.5hrs! Crafts, games, competitions and so much more.

🏳️‍🌈 I am absolutely BUZZING about this class!!

I spend so much time living life day to day, week to week, and generally trying to keep everything together at Sylk 😂 that I don’t always get around to bringing new ideas and projects to life.

But this one is really special to me. 💜

Over the years, I’ve watched so many young people struggle with their identity, finding where they fit and feeling confident enough to just be themselves. Dance has always been a safe space for so many of them — but I want this to be more than just a dance class.

I want to create a little community. 🏳️‍🌈

A space where LGBTQ+ young people and their allies can come together, express themselves freely, meet new people, dance, laugh, build confidence and just have a BLAST being exactly who they are.

No pressure. No judgement. No need to be an experienced dancer. Just a welcoming space to move, connect and belong. 💜

Our first PRISM – Monthly Street & Commercial Dance for LGBTQ+ Teens class will be in November, and we’re taking bookings now for anyone who would like to join us!

Yesterday I had an amazing afternoon at JSK Dance helping them prepare for their up and coming competitions and improve their freestyle skills.

🌟QUALIFIED 🌟

Did you know that our Leila has now achieved her official cheerleading junior coaching qualification?! After working alongside our lead coaches Tabi & myself she has been learning skills such as

* Class management
* Effective flexibility & conditioning drills
* Lesson planning
* How to compose a routine
* Encouraging and building student confidence
* All the little things you don’t even think about until it happens in a class!

The qualification is just the cherry on top of the hard work and journey that our students undertake to become a coach. Even if it’s not something they wish to do as a career, it’s a brilliant way to gain life skills, get experience in the workplace, (especially working with children) and earn some money. In just the last week I have given references to 3 past students who have been teachers and volunteers at Sylk!

Well done Leila! We can’t wait to see you thrive as one of the Sylk team 🥳

If anyone else is keen to work with us as a gymnastics, cheer or dance coach we are always looking for new students to mentor and get qualified, so just get in touch.

Cheer Team Infinity have been working hard on new stunt sequences ready to compete in 2027!

A lot goes in to every stunt from strength & flexibility training to creativity and finally the performance element and fine tuning! It’s important to get the basic skill down asap so the final product is completely polished! 🌟
