Arts1 is an independent theatre school based in Milton Keynes, providing a range of part-time performing arts classes and workshops for children, young people and adults. Our award winning sixth form courses have a reputation for excellence with our graduates progressing to world renowned performing arts institutions. Founded in 2006 our aim is to inspire our students to achieve their potential in performance through learning from our excellent teachers and industry mentors in a safe and nurturing environment. Led by Principal and co-founder Rebecca Carrington and internationally recognised Estill voice coach James Grimsey, the team combine their experience from working within leading institutions and drama schools with their vision for excellence. The school is set apart by its caring approach to developing the regions top talent and was the winner of the BTEC Showstopper Awards in 2018.

We are devastated to learn of the sudden passing of former Arts1 student Nuala Buckley at just 19 years old.

A talented dancer and wonderful young lady, Nuala attended the sixth form at Arts1 from 2023 - 2025 and was loved by students and staff alike.

Our hearts go out to all those who were close to Nuala and our thoughts are with her family, friends and those closest to her at this very difficult time.

Rest peacefully Nuala.

Introducing Inside Arts1 - our brand-new experience day for our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Course, taking place on 8 November 2026 for those performers aged 16+ looking to take their next step to drama school.

We’re bringing together industry guests and Arts1 faculty for a full day of triple threat training. You’ll get into the studios, take part in practical workshops and explore how singing, acting and dance come together.

Here’s just a few guests who you’ll be working with:

• Lucy Banfield - Musical Theatre Jazz
• Allyson Ava-Brown - Singing Audition Masterclass
• Rohan Tickell - Acting Workshop
• James Grimsey - Estill Voice Lab

There’s a Live Industry Panel too with all guests to be announced, plus time to meet current Degree students, ask questions and get a feel for our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre course.

Well done and congratulations to our Evening & Weekend School student Matilda, who had her first day as a Royal Ballet School Junior Associate in London on Saturday.

She had the most incredible day and can’t wait to see what this academic year brings her!
