Treatment should be tailored to you - not just where it hurts.

Pain isn’t always as straightforward as “this bit hurts, so this bit must be the problem”.

Sometimes the area that feels sore is compensating for something else. Sometimes movement, training load, work, sleep or stress are all playing a part.

That’s why we take the time to understand the bigger picture, assess how you’re moving and work out what may actually be contributing to the issue.

The goal isn’t just to chase symptoms - it’s to help you move and feel better overall 🙌

Why does the same pain keep coming back?

Because pain isn’t always just about *where* it hurts.

Sometimes the symptoms settle, but the thing contributing to them hasn’t really changed - whether that’s your training load, work set-up, movement habits, strength, recovery or simply doing more than your body is currently used to.

That’s why treatment isn’t just about making something feel better for a few days. We also want to understand why it keeps flaring up and what might help reduce the chances of it happening again.

That might mean changing how you’re moving, gradually building strength, adjusting your activity for a while or giving you a few simple things to work on between appointments.

Recurring pain doesn’t necessarily mean something is damaged - but if the same problem keeps returning, it’s worth looking at the bigger picture.

Your body doesn’t have to be injured to benefit from treatment.

You don’t need to wait until something hurts badly, stops you training or starts getting in the way of everyday life.

Treatment can also be about maintaining how you feel, managing tension, keeping on top of little niggles and helping your body recover from everything you ask of it.

Sometimes there isn’t a big injury or dramatic story - you just feel tight, tired or a bit uncomfortable.

That’s still a perfectly good reason to book.

Do knots actually exist?

Sort of - but not quite in the way people often imagine.

When people talk about a “knot”, they’re usually describing an area of muscle that feels tight, tender or more sensitive than the surrounding tissue. It can feel like a hard little lump under the skin, but it isn’t literally a muscle tied in a knot.

These areas can become sore for lots of reasons, including increased muscle tension, overuse, stress, changes in activity or simply spending a long time in one position.

Massage can help by reducing sensitivity, improving movement and helping the area feel more comfortable - but we’re not physically “breaking up” or “releasing” a knot.

So yes, the sensation is very real… the knot itself is just a slightly misleading name.

You don’t have to be sporty to have a sports massage.

Despite the name, sports massage isn’t just for runners, gym-goers or people training for an event.

It can be just as useful if you spend long hours at a desk, have a physical job, feel generally tight and achy, or simply want some hands-on treatment to help your body feel better.

You don’t need to be injured, and you definitely don’t need to be an athlete.

Sometimes you’re just a normal person with normal aches and pains - and that’s more than enough reason to book.

Is clicking in my joints bad? 👀

Not necessarily.

Joints can click, pop or crack for lots of completely harmless reasons - including gas bubbles moving within the joint or tendons and ligaments moving over nearby structures.

If a joint clicks without pain, swelling or loss of movement, it’s often nothing to worry about.

It’s more worth getting checked if the clicking is:
* painful
* associated with swelling
* happening after an injury
* making the joint feel unstable, stuck or restricted

So, noisy joints don’t automatically mean damaged joints!

If something doesn’t feel right though, we’re always happy to take a look.

Why do I keep getting the same headache?

Recurring headaches can have lots of different triggers, and sometimes it’s a combination of things rather than one obvious cause.

Tension through the neck and shoulders, stress, long hours at a desk, poor sleep, dehydration, eye strain or changes in routine can all play a part.

If your headaches tend to come with neck stiffness or muscle tension, treatment may help ease some of those contributing factors - but it’s important not to assume every headache is muscular.

If your headaches are new, severe, changing in pattern or happening very frequently, it’s worth speaking to your GP.

If they’re a familiar pattern and seem linked to tension or posture, we can help you look at what might be contributing.

You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong before you book.

That’s our job to help you work out 😊

You might just know that something feels tight, sore, uncomfortable or not quite right. You don’t need a diagnosis, a name for it, or even a perfect explanation of when it started.

We’ll talk through what’s been going on, look at how you’re moving and help figure out what might be contributing to it.

So if you’ve been putting off booking because you’re not quite sure *what* you need - don’t worry. You can simply start by telling us what you’re feeling.

hould I use heat or ice? 🧊🔥

It’s one of those questions we get asked all the time — and unfortunately, there isn’t one rule that works for everyone.

As a general guide:

🧊 Ice can be useful when something is newly irritated, swollen or feels hot and inflamed.

🔥 Heat can often feel better for stiffness, muscle tension or an area that feels tight and achy.

But the most important thing is how your body responds. If heat feels soothing, use heat. If ice gives you relief, use ice. Neither is usually a magic fix on its own - they’re simply tools to help manage symptoms.

If pain is persistent, worsening or you’re not sure what’s causing it, it’s worth getting it assessed rather than relying on heat or ice alone.
