Afon Valley AFC

We’re a community-driven club with big ambitions, aiming to bring together local players, create a competitive team/atmosphere, and enjoy the highs (and inevitable lows) of grassroots football.

We’re a bit behind in match reports, but last weekend we lost out in a fiery local Derby against GVD. Our goals coming from Danny Thomas, Barnaby Bocsak and Louis Derbi. After finding ourselves down a goal early on, we fought back well to make it 2-1. Only to concede just before half time. The game started to fall away from us after that. But we can be proud of the overall performance!

12/09/2026

A historic day for us as we secured our first ever league win against Caerleon Town AFC Reserves with a 6-0 victory 🎉

The scoreline opened with another hattrick from Danny Thomas, resulting in the following G/As:

1' Danny Thomas (Assist: Kieron Chindoo-Roy)
33' Danny Thomas (Assist: Ellis Jones)
39' Danny Thomas (Assist: Harrison Lindsay)
65' Josh Baker (Assist: Danny Thomas)
69' Ben Bocsak (Assist: Harrison Lindsay)
78' Chris Price (Assist: Callum Arnesen)

This has been an incredibly hard fought victory for the team. The perseverance through last season to remain dedicated and keep showing up is finally paying off. We aim for this to be the first step on a constant journey for improvement.

Well done to all the boys who played, you've done the club very proud

As always, a big shout-out to our sponsors for supporting us into our first league win.

Match result 19/08/26.
Afon Valley 2 - 6 Bedwas Reserves.
We began life in Div 2 with a disappointing loss on Wednesday night.
Despite coming from behind twice to draw level, we fell off the horse in the last 10 minutes as Bedwas scored 4 late goals in a competitive game.
Our Goals came from Alex Jones, who took his opportunity well and Danny Thomas, who finished excellently after some great build up play.
All the best to Bedwas who were the better side on the night.

We go again Saturday against Risca Town Development, where we look for improvement from the lads.
