Over 40s Champions of Norfolk 🏆

On Sunday, our over 40s side led by John Allen travelled to Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club to defend our trophy.

In the semi final we batted first against GMCC🏏 and reached a total of 168/7 with contributions from Ben Utting (33*), Paul Woods (29) and Dave Cosford (27). We restricted Melton to 126/8 with 3 wickets apiece for Rob Porter and Tom Whichelow, meaning we won by 42 runs.

In the final we faced the hosts Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club, where we won the toss and chose to bowl. Tas posted a score of 127/7 with wickets shared around between the bowlers. We chased it down rather comfortably with 4 overs left and only 2 wickets down. Woodsy, Ports and John all retiring which meant for the third year running we were Norfolk over 40s champions.

Well done everyone involved 🏆🏆🏆

Chairman’s day 2026

Tomorrow, Sunday 30th August, sees our annual chairman’s day take place.

It starts with the ladies game against Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers at 10:30 before we remember to greats of our clubs, who have sadly passed away in recent times.

Darren “Dogs” Ward, will captain a side in memory of his dad Pud who we lost earlier this year, against a “Griz” XI, who passed away nearly 3 years ago, captained by first team skipper and his eldest son Toby Adams. Tomorrow gives us as a club a great opportunity for current and former players to come together and celebrate the lives of two brilliant men, who were massive parts of our club.

Acle_Social_Club have their annual rum and gin festival taking place so there will be music and food as well, so come on down for what should be a great day.

Match day 5/18 Results

Another mixed week for the club with 2/6 wins for the senior sides, but a win for the midweek 20/20 side last Thursday too.

The 1s lost to a good Norwich side having won the toss and elected to bat. Craig Press starring again with the bat with Sol Blazer also contributing with a well made 40.

Rob Porter was the 2s man of the match with 97 and 4 wickets, as the twos won their third game in a row beating Bradenham by 42 run. Stan Taylor taking his first 2s wicket in the game too.

The 3s and 5s also suffered defeats despite some great individual performances from Eusha, Chris Ashman and Jack Bailey. A convincing win for the 4th team helped by Wrighty with 104, Beano scoring 87 and Jimmy Catchpole with 4 wickets. An experienced performance!

The Sunday side lost to Norwich despite a maiden 100 for skipper Finn Adams.

This Saturday we have 4 games as the 3s have a weekend off and look for 4/4 wins (weather dependent).

Matchday 4/18 Results

A mixed weekend results with wins for the 2s and 5s, whilst the other three teams were on the end of comfortable losses.

Highlights of the weekend included Titch’s 69 vs Great Witchingham, John Allen’s 116 in the 3s and then three wickets for Phil Squire, Roy Kelly and Vinnay.

The 5s had several contributions with the bat as they continued their season in fine form and currently sit top of the league and the 2s picked up another win thanks to contributions with the bat from Nobbsy, Ports, Hasto and Finn in a solid chase at home to Martham.

5 more fixtures this Saturday as well as a Sunday game, 20/20 tonight and a ladies game this weekend too!

12/05/2026

Match day 2/18 Results

A bitterly disappointing weekend as a club, with 6 defeats for the senior sides but some incredibly close fought games. Some impressive performances with Dan Hastings and Jack Patterson scoring unbeaten 100’s on Sunday, Shane Tovell and Ben Clayton with well made half centuries and Finn Adams the pick of the weekend bowlers.

We look forward to putting the wrongs right and turning these results around swiftly this weekend.

Thanks to Ovamill for being our weekly sponsors once again!
