Peterlee 1sts travelled to Ryhope, in this 45 over league fixture.
Captain Ellis Dunn, won the toss and inserted the hosts.
Ryhope opener Matthew Dench suffered a 3rd ball duck, as Ringo McKenna trapped him lbw.
McKenna then snapped up the other opener Jenkin(17), clean bowling him.
The home side struggled to get away, with wickets falling regularly.
Lawrence (11), lbw Dunn, Thorpe(7) lbw Buck, Dodsworth (0) bowled Dunn, and Warren(5) caught in the deep by Matty Kirtley, off Dunns bowling.
This left the home side reeling on 49 for 6.
Liam Stores was putting up some stubborn resistance, but partners were leaving faster than on love island!
Coultard(6) bowled by a full delivery off Dunn, giving him figures of 4 for 23.
Scollen(1) excellently ran out with a direct hit from Buck.
Liddle(8) bowled by Dan Devine.
The final wicket that of Stores, his 23 off 49 balls, was enough to elevate Ryhopes score to 95 all out, when McKenna finished what he started, by bowling him.
So a meagre target of 96 to chase, and Peterlee confidently strode to the crease, with openers Sullivan and McKenna.
Now as many people have observed, you never know how good a score is, until both sides bat.
With such a small target to defend, Ryhope needed a fast start, and the cricket gods provided them with a first over to dream of.
Liam Stores running up the hill, first ball, clean balled Sullivan.
Next in captain Dunn, up the hill came Stores, edged and taken, a golden duck as the home side whooped and hollered.
Tom Nicholson next up, and in his inimitable style, he stood and delivered dismissing balls to the boundary.
They say bazball is dead, but not for Tom.
As McKenna struggled with his timing, Nicholson peppered the boundaries.
Live by the sword and you die by the sword, Nicholsons brief stay saw him fall, caught by Dench, off Stores with an entertaining 36 off 24 balls.
Matty Kirtley came in, an ex of this parish, and was sent back head bowed, after a first ball duck, put lbw to Stores, much to the delight of his ex teammates.
Enter the ever young Michael Thorpe, has had more clubs than Rory McIlroy, but still plays the game with passion and enthusiasm.
With the tail exposed, and McKenna struggling to get his timing, Peterlee were in danger of making a right horlicks of this chase.
Stores got his 5fer, bowling McKenna(10), and then Thorpe had Buck(4), chip one back to him.
Peterlee were 60 for 6, and still had to get 37 runs!
Dan Devine just cleared the mid on fielder to get a boundary, much needed.
But then Thorpe, another caught and bowled, Devine (12), departed.
80 for 7, Adam Willingham and Kieron Allison, steadied the nerves of the Peterlee faithfull, as they edged nearer the target, only for Allison to swipe across a straight one, and get bowled by Joe Dodsworth.
With just 2 runs required, a series of nerve jangling dot balls, was broken when Adam Willingham lifted a drive, over the inner ring to secure the win with a boundary.
Peterlee scraping home to win by 2 wickets.
A close, low scoring game packed with entertainment.
Great bowling from the home sides Stores, an excellent power batting showcase from Tom Nicholson, and captain Dunns, crucial 4 for 23, giving him the home sides, Man of the Match.
A win, and on to the final three games of the season.
