💙⚽️🤍 MATCH DAY | FEATHERSTONE ROVERS LADIES 2–3 SCOT FC 🤍⚽️💙
📍 St Wilfrid’s ⏰ 5pm KO ⏱️ 2 x 25 minutes

Another fantastic game of football for the Fev Ladies — and another match packed with great football, effort and plenty of drama!

HALF TIME: FEATHERSTONE ROVERS LADIES 2–1 SCOT FC
From the first whistle, Fev were playing football straight from the training ground, putting together some lovely passages of play and creating chance after chance.
The opening goal came from a perfectly timed pass from central midfielder Shell Harris, which was met brilliantly by striker Katie Birkenhead, who calmly slotted the ball home to score her first goal of this year’s campaign! 🎯⚽️
Fev continued to work hard and created plenty of opportunities, hitting the post on numerous occasions and forcing the Scot FC goalkeeper into save after save to keep her side in the game.
A lapse in concentration allowed Scot FC to find the equaliser, making it 1–1.
But Fev weren't finished!
Before the break, Fev were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Up stepped Katie Birkenhead…
And WOW! 😱🔥
WHAT. A. SHOT. WHAT. A. GOAL!
Katie found the back of the net in style and Fev went into half time 2–1 up! 💙

The second half was every bit as entertaining, with both teams playing some fantastic football. It was end-to-end stuff once again, with chances flying in at both ends.
Scot FC eventually found the equaliser and it was game on!
Fev battled hard, continued to create chances, hit the post AGAIN 😩 and once again saw the Scot FC keeper pull off some excellent saves.
Unfortunately, the points then slipped from Fev’s grasp as Scot FC found their third goal.

FULL TIME: FEATHERSTONE ROVERS LADIES 2–3 SCOT FC
Of course, the girls were disappointed not to come away with the points, but there is absolutely no shame in that performance.
Heads held high. Shoulders back. 💙
We move forward with pride because that was another cracking team performance from the Fev Ladies! 👏⚽️

🏆 PLAYER AWARDS
It was a tough call today with everyone working their socks off and putting in a brilliant team effort — but the awards go to…

🌟 PLAYERS’ PLAYER OF THE GAME — SARAH LARRINGTON
Sarah gave 110% on the wing, working tirelessly in both attack and defence. She really got stuck in, battled for every ball and put in a fantastic performance. 💪🔥

🌟 COACHES’ PLAYER OF THE GAME — KATIE BIRKENHEAD
Two amazing goals today, but Katie’s contribution was about much more than finding the net. Her distribution, movement on and off the ball and overall work rate were absolutely second to none. A fantastic performance from our striker! ⚽️⚽️👏

😂 CONE OF SHAME — SARAH LARRINGTON
Because apparently being Players’ Player wasn't enough…
Sarah somehow managed to land on her own hand 🤦‍♀️😂
An ice pack was required — and yes, she went home with the ice pack AND her trophy!
You genuinely couldn't make it up. 😂🏆🧊

A huge well done to both teams for another brilliant game of football. 👏
Fev have a week off next weekend before we're back in action on 4th October, when we take on Dunscroft.

The league table might not have any points on the board just yet, but what a cracking start to the season from this group.
The football is coming together, the effort is there, the team spirit is strong and there's plenty more to come! 💙🤍
UP THE FAF! 💙⚽️🤍

💙⚽️🤍 FEATHERSTONE ROVERS LADIES | MATCH REPORT 🤍⚽️💙
Featherstone Rovers Ladies 2–3 Methley United Ladies Mavericks
📍 St Wilfrid’s ⏰ 4pm KO ⏱️ 25 minutes each way 🏆 Fev Rovers Ladies – 2026/2027 Season Opener

WHAT. A. GAME. 🔥
What a fantastic game to kick off the Fev Rovers Ladies 2026/2027 season!

In a thrilling, end-to-end contest against Methley United Ladies Mavericks, Fev may not have left with the points, but they certainly left with pride after every single player gave absolutely everything on that pitch! 💙

The first half saw some lovely football from both sides, with strong defensive work matched by some excellent attacking play.
Fev broke the deadlock with a perfectly placed throw-in from Kaye Karim, which was met brilliantly by our captain Lindsay Bradshaw. Lindsay struck it beautifully and sent the ball sailing into the top corner! 🚀⚽️
Methley had chances of their own, but Fev dug deep and held firm to take a deserved 1–0 lead into half time.

SECOND HALF DRAMA! 😮‍💨🔥
The second half started exactly as the first had finished — end-to-end stuff!
Fev worked the ball into the Methley box, and a lovely pass from Katie Birkenhead found Jess Neale, who produced an absolute peach of a shot to double Fev’s lead! 🎯⚽️
2–0 Fev! 💙
Credit to Methley, who continued to battle and dig in, and their persistence paid off when a long-range effort found the back of the net.
Then came the penalty drama…
A penalty was awarded to Methley following a goal-line clearance involving a handball from a Fev player who definitely wasn't the keeper! 😬😂
Methley stepped up and struck the bar, but the referee called for the penalty to be retaken after deciding our keeper had moved off her line.
We respect the decision… but where’s VAR when you need it?! 😂📺
Ball placed again. This time, Methley made no mistake and converted to bring the score level at 2–2.
Both teams continued to press, create chances and battle for the winner.
Then, with just three minutes to go, Methley took advantage of a goalmouth scramble to make it 2–3 and sn**ch the points. 💔
A tough one to take, but what a performance from Fev.

🏆 PLAYERS' PLAYER AWARD
This week’s award was shared between two very deserving players:
⭐ Captain Lindsay Bradshaw — putting some serious miles in from her central midfield position, leading by example and, of course, getting herself on the scoresheet!
⭐ Kaye Karim — starting the game out of position on the wing, delivering the assist for the captain’s goal, before moving back into her usual defensive role in the second half. Talk about doing a job for the team! 👏

🏆 COACHES' PLAYER
Becky Wark 💪
A rock-solid performance at centre-back. Becky was strong at the back, made some crucial tackles and her distribution from defence was top notch. A brilliant performance.

🥔 TURD OF THE TURF
And now for the prestigious award nobody wants but somebody has to win…
😂 TURD OF THE TURF: TONISHA “T” SHIRAFKAN 😂
And T didn't even need to wait until kick-off to earn it!
In the team group chat, someone mentioned that when one of our players' kitchen is remodelled, T at her house.
Now, for those outside Yorkshire, “tea” = evening meal. ☕️🍽️
But T, bless her, wanted clarification…
“Is this the right T?” 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly T… we’re not sure what other T you thought we meant! 😂
🏆 Turd of the Turf before a ball had even been kicked. Outstanding work.

💙 A MESSAGE FROM COACH LUCY

Coach Lucy is absolutely brimming with pride at the team’s performance today.
What a foundation we have laid for this year’s campaign!
We didn’t walk away with the points, but not one member of this team was disheartened. Every single player gave 110%, battled until the final whistle and showed exactly what this team is all about.
Sometimes the result alone doesn’t tell the story.
Today, the scoreline says 2–3.
We say PRIDE. 💙
A huge well done to every player who represented Fev Rovers today — you did yourselves, your teammates and the badge proud. 👏👏👏 UptheFAF 💙⚽️🤍.

Next week Fev take on Scot FC and we cannot wait 💙⚽️🤍

Friendly: Featherstone Rovers Ladies against West End Terriers

1st half saw an effort on goal from Bex, from half way, another from Laura who pushed forward from D and Jess who had an on target effort in top right corner. The 1st goal came from Katie after Ellie chased a ball upfront and crossed one into Katie for a smack into the net! Just before half time too! 1-0
2nd half saw 2 assists from our very own Claire in net! Katie had a mega shot low and hard which slammed into the back of the net 2-0
Then the last goal came from our Shell… Claire’s 2nd assist was a pass to shell who took it forward and hammered a shot in…
The opposition had a good bit of time working our defence but we worked the ball well as a team and got the result!
Well done FAF’s ⚽️💙💪🏼

🏆 Featherstone Rovers Ladies End of Season Presentation 2025/26 💙🤍⚽️

Last Saturday, we came together at Featherstone Social Club to celebrate another incredible season at our End of Season Presentation. A huge thank you to the venue for hosting us and helping make it such a fantastic evening. The atmosphere, the food, the laughs and the memories made it a night to remember.

The evening was brilliantly hosted by our Coach, Lucy, and Captain, Lindsay, and whilst football brought us all together, this night was about celebrating every single player and the amazing people they are.

This team is so much more than the game. We are a football family.

Every player received a trophy in recognition of their commitment, dedication and contribution throughout the season. Every training session, every match, every challenge overcome – you all deserve to be celebrated.

🏆 Players' Player of the Season – Lindsay Bradshaw

Voted for by her teammates, there could hardly be a more deserving winner. Lindsay leads from the front every single week, giving absolutely everything whenever she steps onto the pitch. But it's everything she does away from matchdays that truly makes her special. Her leadership, encouragement, organisation and unwavering commitment are at the heart of this team. Quite simply, Fev Rovers wouldn't be the same without her. A truly outstanding captain and teammate.

🏆 Coaches' Player of the Season – Katie Birkenhead

What. A. Season.

Twenty-five league goals and one County Cup goal gave Katie an incredible tally of 26 goals this season. Her movement, work rate and clinical finishing have been exceptional, and time after time she delivered when her team needed her most. Every defender knew they were in for a tough afternoon, and every teammate knew Katie was capable of producing something special. A phenomenal season from an incredible striker.

🏆 Players' Most Improved – Jess Neale

The transformation in Jess this season has been incredible to witness and fully deserved recognition from her teammates. She committed herself to improving her fitness and health, embraced every challenge and somehow managed to play in just about every position on the pitch! Whatever was asked of her, she gave it everything. Her confidence has grown, her performances have gone from strength to strength, and all of her hard work has paid off in the best possible way.

🏆 Coaches' & Captains' Most Improved – Ellie Garside

From never having played football before (after swapping an oval rugby ball for a round one!), Ellie has been nothing short of remarkable. Week after week she developed into a confident, dependable player who truly owned her position on the pitch. Her football has improved beyond recognition, but equally impressive has been her personal growth, resilience and emotional regulation throughout the season. The progress she's made has been outstanding, and this award couldn't have gone to a more deserving player.

💩 Most Turd of the Turfs – Becky Wark

Now for the award everyone secretly wanted... or maybe didn't! 🤣

Although there were plenty of worthy contenders, our very own pocket rocket Becky claimed the title this year. Whether it was an unexpected tumble, an impressive drop-and-roll or somehow ending up on the floor in the most spectacular fashion imaginable, Becky never failed to entertain us all. Thankfully she always bounced straight back up... usually laughing at herself! Football definitely wouldn't be half as funny without her antics!

⚽ Top Goalscorer – Katie Birkenhead (26 goals!) with Ellie Garside finishing as runner-up.

🚀 Goal of the Season – Lindsay Bradshaw... although we're still investigating whether she might have had a little influence over the judging! 😂

💙 Fundraiser of the Year – Laura Stephens-Murray. The amount of money Laura has raised for this team has been absolutely phenomenal. Her dedication behind the scenes helps make so much possible for everyone involved and should never be underestimated. Thank you for everything you do.

👏 Supporter of the Year – Dani Carter. Despite being sidelined through injury all season, Dani never stopped supporting this team. Week after week she was there cheering us on, lifting spirits and reminding us what being part of a football family really means. Your support has meant more than you know.

A few special mentions also had to go to some amazing people...

💙 Kaye Karim, thank you for organising an unforgettable team weekend away. The memories, laughter and friendships made will stay with us for years to come.

💙 Jade Spencer and Laura Stephens-Murray, thank you both for somehow managing to keep us all fed that weekend... no small task with this lot! 😂

The whole evening was filled with laughter, celebrations, emotional moments and everything that makes this team so special.

Friendship. Fun. Football.

This season has always been about the journey rather than the destination, but what an incredible way to finish it.

To top off a brilliant night, we all got to celebrate together as England won their World Cup match, making an already unforgettable evening even more special. Watching and celebrating that together was the perfect ending.

To every player, coach, volunteer, supporter, sponsor, family member and friend... thank you for being part of our journey.

We cannot wait to do it all again next season.

Up the FAF! 💙🤍⚽️

Thank you to our sponsors Rovers Return, Sharon's Market Kitchen and Kirsopp Builders LTD.

And also to The Travellers Rest, Featherstone, for looking after us after our games 🍺 it's appreciated.

01/07/2026

The ladies enjoyed a well earned annual weekend away to a lodge at the gorgeous Matlock.

We laughed from start to finish. With the traitor villains and the angel faithful's, a charity night we won't forget and a walk that turned into several scenes from a soap opera.

Some would say it was supposed to be relaxing, which it was, until the outfits came out. We had what can only be described as a flamenco dancer, and old lady, a prehistoric dinosaur, Miss Honey from Matilda and a gangster! Not forgetting the sets of curtains some had to wear!

Times with these ladies are always ones never to be forgotten. Until next time lasses.........

Thank you to our amazing host and organiser, Kaye and our mamas for the weekend, Laura and Jade.

⚽️ 💙🤍

FEV ROVERS LADIES MATCH REPORT 💙⚽🤍

Our final game of the season saw us fall to a 4-0 defeat against Shadwell. It wasn't our best performance and, if we're honest, we didn't play the football we know we're capable of. Unfortunately, that showed in the result.
But one game does not define this team.

Today's performance doesn't reflect who we are, but our season absolutely does. More on that shortly...

Players' Player 🏆
Went to Becky Wark, who put in a tremendous shift playing both Central Defence and Central Midfield. Becky seemed to be everywhere today, covering every blade of grass with her work rate, determination and commitment shining through from start to finish.

Ref's Player 🏆
Awarded to Laura Stephens-Murray. Starting with a spell in midfield before moving back into her natural Centre Back role in the second half, Laura showed exactly why she's such an important part of this team. She put her body on the line with some crucial tackles and clearances when we needed them most.

Coach's Player 🏆
Went to Tonisha Shirafkan. Week after week, Tonisha continues to improve and develop her game. The hard work she's been putting in at training is translating onto the pitch, and today's performance was another example of the progress she's making. A deserved award for a player who is always willing to learn and work hard.

Turd of the Turf 💩😂
This week's winner was Jess Neale, who had what can only be described as an emotional rollercoaster before kick-off.
First, she cried because she'd forgotten her playing shirt. Then she cried again because the emergency replacement shirt kindly provided by Ellie was apparently so tight she couldn't breathe. Thankfully, disaster was eventually averted when Cara, who had turned up fully kitted out despite being unable to play due to having a little FAF baby currently baking away in the oven, came to the rescue and lent Jess her shirt.
The tears stopped, the breathing resumed, and Jess was able to take to the pitch. A true story of triumph over adversity. Netflix documentary pending. 😂

And now for the season...
Wow.

Coach Lucy couldn't be prouder of this squad.
Last season we finished bottom of the table. This season we have finished 7th out of 14 teams, and what a journey it has been.
We've produced some incredible performances, picked up some fantastic results and beaten some of the league's biggest teams along the way. The improvement shown by every single player has been phenomenal.

But this team has always been about more than football.

At Fev Rovers Ladies, we pride ourselves on Friendship, Fun and Football — in that order.
We are a family.

Week in, week out these women have each other's backs both on and off the pitch. We laugh together, we cry together, we celebrate together and we support each other through everything life throws at us. That bond is what makes this team special and it's what shows every Sunday when we pull on the blue and white shirt.

None of this would be possible without the incredible support we receive from our friends and family, who continue to cheer us on through every high and low. Thank you for being there every step of the way.

What a season. What a team.

Now we have plenty to look forward to: our weekend away together (which will almost certainly be absolute carnage), our presentation evening where we'll celebrate every player for the amazing individual they are, and then before we know it, pre-season will be here and we'll be putting the work in all over again for next season.

There is honestly no place any of us would rather be on a Sunday.

A massive shout out to Rovers Return for our sponsorship this season and, the fun we've had with you.

Thank you to Sharon's Market kitchen and kirsopp builders LTD, who will be coming into next season with us.

Lastly, a big thank you to The Travellers Rest, Featherstone, for taking us in and feeding us every week when, we have legs like jelly and we just need a pint 🍺
