Ride Report: RVJ Glasson Dock Via The Lune - Sat 2nd May 2026....

..everyone who joins us on this ride loves it. Flat, picturesque, history, and the opportunity for ice cream - what's not to like?

2 juniors, and 4 adults joined our Ride Leaders Geoff and Jon for 20 miles of smiles. Departing Bull Beck Picnic site near Caton in coolish weather, we followed the River Lune to Lancaster, out the other side and then on to Glasson Dock.

Passing under the John Rennie's impressive aqueduct, across the Millenium Bridge, alongside the warehouses and buildings of the original Lancaster Dock, and following former rail bed all the way.

At Glasson Dock ice creams, pies, hot chocolates, and coffees were the order of the day. Soon it was time for the reverse leg, and the sun began to break through which lifted the temperature nicely. There was even an impromptu point-to-point race for our two juniors and a couple of our adults - always fun to be had!

A fantastic ride enjoyed by all, and hopefully many more sunshine rides to come.

Our rides are led by Ribble Valley Juniors adult members who are British Cycling qualified Ride Leaders, and are specifically designed with younger riders in mind, using as much safe cycle infrastructure, off-road routes, and quiet roads as possible, though we attempt to keep the latter to the minimum.

Our next ride is yet to be decided. Please follow our page if you want to join us on a future ride. Also sign up to Letsride.co.uk if you haven't already.

Ribble Valley Juniors Ride Report - Ribble Explorer via Penwortham Saturday 25th April 26.

A Cracking Ride Today. This was 3rd time lucky for this ride, as it had been cancelled the previous 2 weekends due to lack of riders !!. There was only 1 Junior Today (Morgan) but we decided to do the ride anyway as it was such a lovely day. It was Sunny and Dry and the pace was faster than Usual, some of the adults were even struggling to keep up with Morgan's pace on the return leg. We arrived back at school in Super-quick time in 2hrs, so we could all head home for lunch.
