Huge congratulations to on his first powerlifting competition yesterday! Coming second in his class and finishing as best overall lifter, with a total of 497.5kg (507.5kg if you count the 145kg bench that got a red light after a solid lockout). 3 lifts, 3 PB’s-keep up the good work! 💪🏻🏋️

If your hips shoot up too early or the bar feels glued to the floor, it’s probably not your back-it’s your leg drive.
Here’s how to fix it 👆🏻
Remember:
* Set up like a leg press-think about pushing the floor away from you, not pulling the bar up.
* Remove slack/keep tension before you pull-load the hamstrings and engage lats before the bar leaves the ground.
* Drive through your mid foot-stay balanced and push evenly for maximum force transfer.
* Build your leg strength-paused squats, deficit deadlifts, any leg strength exercises will all carry over to a stronger, more explosive pull.

Client has hit some big numbers on his 5 rep max with PB’s in squats and deadlifts! 150kg for the squat and 180kg for the deadlift 🎉We’ve just ran a little accumulation block with a focus on deficits for the deadlift. I love seeing it all come together! Awesome work Dan, keep it up! 💪🏻👏🏻

It’s not enough to just go straight into your warm up sets and start chucking the weights up. It should be anywhere between 10-20 minutes before you’re even doing that! Always prime your body, joints and muscle groups before the main sequence. Spend time working on mobility, where does your mobility lag in the movements you’re training and what exercises can be done to improve it?
