It's and this week we would like to say a big thank you to Caversham Park Tennis Club club

We are delighted to have been selected as their charity of the year, and on April 10th, the club held their first fundraiser, raising a fantastic £608 for Sport in Mind. An absolutely brilliant day and a fantastic amount raised that will go a long way in supporting the work we do to improve the lives of people experiencing mental health problems through sport and physical activity.

Thank you Caversham Park Tennis Club and we cant wait to see what's next! 💙

Sport in Mind are delighted to announce that we have been elected as Caversham Park Tennis Club's first "Charity of the Year".

This is an exciting partnership, and we look forward to working on lots of events throughout the year. It's wonderful to be able to connect with local sports clubs and we can't wait to work together! 🎾

Caversham Park Tennis Club has six floodlit courts and a large clubhouse. We are an extremely friendly club that welcomes players of all levels.

We have five weekly club sessions, so there are plenty of chances to play throughout the week. There are also Improvers/'Rusty Rackets' sessions. For those who wish to play at a more competitive level, we have a number of mens, ladies, mixed, and junior teams who compete in the Berkshire leagues (and there are match practice sessions). Members can organise their own singles and doubles by means of an online booking system.

Operating as usual

12/12/2021

Santa (Saint Nick?) turned up for the club's Xmas Jumper Tournament earlier today. Judging by this picture, he seems to have done very well (or did he use some festive magic on that score post just before the camera clicked?!) 😲

CPTC junior, Christian Rowbotham, performed brilliantly on the grass at the All England Club. He reached the last 16 in the singles in the 14U National Finals of this year's Road to Wimbledon tournament. He and his partner also made the quarter-finals of the doubles. Well done, Christian!!

Reading Abbey celebrates its 900th anniversary this year. You might wonder what that's got to do with tennis, but the abbey was closed down during Henry VIII's 'Dissolution of the Monasteries'... and it was Henry VIII who introduced tennis to England. Indeed, legend has it he was playing tennis when he was told Ann Boleyn had been executed. Okay, a very tenuous link, but check this out anyway...
