Old Williamsonian Rugby Club Congratulations for finding your way to our page, new players and supporters are very welcome. Andy Campbell was the driving force to get it underway.

We’re based in Rochester, Kent, and currently run 1 men’s team in Kent Counties 3 with an occasional 2nd/Vets XV team. The Old Williamsonian Rugby Club, or Old Wi***es as they are commonly known, was founded in 1930. The Old Wi***es are a section of the Old Williamsonian Club who are the old boys club for ex pupils of Rochester Math School. The club re-formed in 1978, and had the basis of the A level students who were leaving that year. In those days only really clever people went straight to university, so there were quite a few of us to choose from. There was no club house and local pubs in Rochester were used for post match entertainment - Crown , Coopers Arms. In those days the team was noted for playing attractive, attacking rugby with talented backs. OWRFC are one of the most friendly rugby teams in the Medway/Kent region. The club, whose training and matchday facilities are based in the impressive sports complex within the Rochester Mathematical School, are a young, ambitious outfit who welcome new players, regardless of their ability.

Something’s building at Old Wills.

Numbers growing, new faces at training, and the groups all the better for it.

If you’ve been sat on a DM you never sent, or a ‘maybe next week’ that’s turned into three ‘next weeks’, this is your sign.

Golden hour 🌅

Proof that pre-season isn’t just endless shuttle runs.

A good turnout, plenty of effort, and only a few people questioning their life choices.

Same again next week, and newcomers are still very welcome.

Ever wondered what pre-season training involves?

It’s not endless fitness drills and ‘bronco tests’.

It’s mostly ball-in-hand skills and conditioning in a relaxed atmosphere.

If you’ve been thinking about coming along, take this as your sign to get involved.

📆 Tuesdays & Thursdays
🕜 7:30pm - 9-ish
📍Sir Joseph Williamson’s Math School, Maidstone Road, Rochester ME1 3EL.
