St Albans Track

Major Building Milestone Complete ✅

The shell of our trackside building was delivered and installed at St Albans Track today!

The former marketing suite will now be converted & fitted out internally to include toilets, changing rooms & open space - replacing the current portaloos at the track. There will be ongoing work at the site however disruption to track users should be minimal as we get to work over the next few months to turn this into an important asset in the local community.

Our long term plan still involves demolishing the condemned pavilion building - closed in 2023 after RAAC concrete in the roof caused concerns over it's structure.

Thanks to JAC Architects, Extra Space & Quadrabuild - and of course our trustees & volunteers - for making this happen!

Let’s make it a Fun Run to remember! 💙

We're really excited to be able to start on our trackside building next week! Groundworks will start on Tuesday 26th May, followed by the building coming on site the week after. It will then be fitted out to include changing rooms, toilets and a club room.

As we enter the 2026 summer season, our 3rd operating the track, we have been fortunate to be awarded funding to upgrade the recycling facilities at the athletics track. We will shortly be installing more recycling and rubbish bins! This grant was made possible through the Herts Community Foundation Green Grant, and we’re grateful for their support. As part of the funding requirements, and our desire to improve our environmental focus, we will be monitoring the recycling rates, and it would be hugely beneficial to us if you could complete our very brief questionnaire (Link in comments).

Recycling at St Albans Athletic Track Abbey View Community Athletics Track, the charity now operating the athletics track in St Albans, is committed to ensuring that the facility is run with sustainable objectives, and reducing our carbon footprint.
