🖤 U15'S MATCH REPORT 💛

Our girls returned to 13 aside action after the summer break against a very good Drighlington side.

The first half saw both sides put on some very impressive rugby in attack, which was equally matched with no-nonsense defence.

Our girls made the break through midway through the first half, with a nicely worked try which Chloe finished off with an impressive one-handed take of the ball on the run before crashing over. We then extended our lead with a team try which saw us stretch Drighlington from one side of the pitch to other, with the girls moving it down the line before Leah finished with a strong run and impressive spin out of some intense defensive pressure.

The second half was the same as the first, but our girls intensity dipped slightly for 10 minutes which saw Drighlington take advantage of by scoring 2 unanswered tries. We got ourselves back into the game with another Chloe try and Izzy. W conversion, but Drighlington held on for the win taking it 14-16.

All in all a quality game of rugby by two really good teams.

This was exactly the type of game we needed to shake off the summer inactivity and get us ready for the cup run ahead 💛🖤

After a long summer break the girls got some much needed game time in , thanks to Drighlington Girls ARLFC U14’s 2026 making the trip over to Haydock KGV.
From the kick off both teams went set for set before Drig broke Haydocks line and went in under the posts but with a knock on grounding the ball the try was chalked off.
A reshuffle of postions for Haydock early in the half with only 1 sub available the girls dug in and kept to the script and soon got the rewards off the back of some strong carries and field postion from the boot of Lilly G ,Scarlet H went in for the first try of the match in corner.

A very positive Halftime talk from the girls after playing some very attractive rugby came out and dominated in both attack and defence with oppostion player of the match Masie B getting stronger each time she touched the ball soon got rewarded for all her hard work with a try under the posts converted by Lilly 10 - 0 Haydock.
The Girls grew in confidence with every girl sticking to the plan executing plays dominating the ruck keeping good field postion turned the pressure into more points in the last play of the game with a well worked try from the middle of pitch out to Saffron on the wing with a great finish 5 meters out from corner putting Haydock 14-0 with the conversion from Lilly to follow lilly added the extras with a perfectly struck kick from the touchline bringing the final score Haydock 16 Drighlington 0
With only 14 girls available due to illness the whole team stepped up and played their part for each other a fantastic display of rugby league.
We now look ahead to our trip away against Lock Lane Girls U14's ARLFC in the cup
