Gone Fishing!

20/08/2026

The Severn estuary one of the most dangerous tidal waters in the world. It feeds into the Bristol Channel which is home to some great fishing but treacherous to navigate. Fancy a go Brian Searle. šŸ˜†

Arlow’s been in a junior match today and just sneaked a win catching carp on the method, it was a close call with Reed Searle coming a close 2nd. All the kids have caught and won prizes which is great for them.

A big thank you to Mick Searle, making the difference for these juniors anglers.

A day session on the Trent trying to find a nice River Carp hasn’t gone to plan. This nice double barbel has shot off up river after picking up a double boillie on an unfed line.

Fished a clubby today and still not recovered from the night on the Trent. I’ve lost a load of fish to Snag Island it’s been mega frustrating.

I’ve ended up with 112lb 7oz and managed to win but the peg was worth 200lb today.

Back at Kiveton Waters next weekend so looking forward to that.

3am Vampire Awakening.
Brought the barbel rods in at 2:50am since it was a bream fest, recast the Zander line and it went within a few minutes. Arlow wanted ago whilst the big Zander were feeding so we recast and within a few minutes it was off again.

Dads Zander 12 lb-4oz
Arlow’s Zander 7lb -14oz

Having a night on the Trent with my lad, we’ve flipped for first fish and it’s gone first chuck.
A lovely little Zander. Better than a poke in eye!

Bring on the Barbel!

Poaching John Searle’s peg. Cheers mucka!

Nobody likes to see that! Tara!
This is how my day has been. šŸŽ£šŸ˜¬šŸ˜

Ended up having to swim across the lake to retrieve the Affinium. Drag was set lose but obviously not lose enough.

I’ve been local today at Embryo Kiveton Waters, had a pound with mi pal Kivo daddy.

He’s drawn 20 Oliver’s on an inform lake and I’ve drawn in the bowl peg 19 Roses a good peg on its day.

It didn’t fish well yesterday but I fancied a few up in the water, I’ve fished top2 plus 1 for the first hour whilst priming the long shallow line, put a few fish in the net but nothing that would push for a frame. After the hour I’ve gone in and got a couple of carp but they weren’t there in numbers, I’ve then gone down my right margin for last couple of hours to try and get a few carp in the net.

I’ve fished dead reds and ground bait and that was a mistake, it worked a few weeks ago but now the perch were too prominent and wouldn’t allow the carp enough time to get to the bait.

Marc Foy confirmed that switched a couple of weeks ago so I swapped out to 11mm pellet and was into a carp from the off. It was definitely the way. I’ve put a couple more fishin the net and lost a few. At the weigh in I’ve done +50lb.

The match was won off Oliver’s by Shaun Sheldon with 108lb, and the Kivo daddy finished up with 80lb. That’s why it important to fish venues regular since they change weekly depending on the weather.

Still I’ve had a great day and I’m looking forward to getting back out to Spain for some big fish fun. I’ll try to do a live from the boat if we get into a cat or two.
