Game 1 - Oxford Brookes (H) 🐂

The opening game of the season saw Trent host newly promoted Oxford Brookes in what proved to be a dominant display from the home side. From the outset, Trent set a high tempo and showed their intent with an aggressive attacking performance and relentless defensive pressure. ⚔️

Despite building an early lead, Trent refused to take their foot off the gas and continued to play with intensity throughout the contest. The squad’s fitness, physicality, and cohesion were evident as they consistently broke through the Brookes defence and controlled possession across the field. 💪

The game was ultimately brought to an early conclusion shortly after half-time, with Oxford Brookes forfeiting the match after 50 minutes of play. At the time of the stoppage, Trent had established a commanding 52–0 lead, marking an emphatic start to the league campaign. 🥇

PRE-SEASON 🩷

Pre-season began on a positive note, with strong recruitment during Freshers Week helping to significantly grow the squad. The club successfully attracted a large number of new players, allowing us to field a squad of around 30 players for both the annual Old Boys fixture and our pre-season match against the University of Nottingham.

Although the team unfortunately ended up on the losing side in both matches, the performances showed plenty of promise considering the squad had only recently come together and was still in the early stages of development.

These fixtures provided valuable opportunities for players to build chemistry, improve match fitness, and begin establishing the foundations for the season ahead.

Every day, we’ll be looking back at one game from our memorable 25/26 campaign, reflecting on what was one of the most successful years for Trent Rugby League.

From preseason to the end of the Varsity streak, this season had it all.

As the 25/26 seasons comes to a close, here are the TRL members who will leave the club at the end of the year 🩷

Treble ❌

Yesterday, the 1’s came out on the losing side to a very strong Northumbria team, taking home the silver medal.

After a mixed week for the club, this concludes our 25/26 season.

Although the result didn’t go our way yesterday, what an unbelievable year it’s been. From topping the league, to winning varsity, the club has achieved an unreal amount this year with yesterdays result also being our second loss of the season.

Still plenty of work to do for next year.
