Lady Captain's Away Day. Thank you Maxine Corker for putting on a great away day for us ladies. It was very hot but that didn't affect the scores, a massive 51 points from our winner, newcomer, Ruth Baciagalupo. Congratulations to all winners, nearest the pin and best team score and mystery prize.

🌱💧 Managing water sustainably at Lees Hall
With yet another unprecedented heat spell and only more to come this season and into the future it’s more important than ever to consider our options on water sources and usage.
We use water from our borehole which was a significant investment sometime ago now this helping us reduce our reliance on mains water. We then use moisture metres to identify exactly where water is needed, allowing us to target specific areas rather than watering unnecessarily but again as the dryer seasons become more frequent and our usage and needs exceed our annual extraction allowances. We are constantly in contact with the environment agency and water companies to ensure we future proof our course for years to come. This takes an all mighty effort from the greens team and the supporting committee to hopefully see the progression for our next generation of members.
Our approach also includes:
💧 Targeted hand watering where possible, ensuring water goes exactly where it’s needed.
🌱 Wetting agents to help water pe*****te the soil and improve how efficiently it is used by the turf.
🔧 Regularly checking our irrigation system for leaks and adjusting sprinkler coverage to minimise wastage.
🌿 Maintaining healthy soils and turf, helping the course naturally cope with periods of heat and drought.
It’s all about using the water we have as efficiently as possible, while continuing to provide the playing conditions our members and visitors expect.
A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes to manage the course responsibly – especially during a summer like this! ☀️⛳

As we continue our look at our great selection of Par 3s… ⛳️
14th Hole surrounded by sand, trees and the Sheffield Round Walk hugging the left side.
There’s not much room for missing right, and stray too far left and you’re out of bounds. 😬
❤️ 163 yards
💛 174 yards
🤍 173 yards
Unusually, the whites are a yard shorter, but with the competition tee tucked tightly to the left-hand side, the hole from this view feels a little more intimidating than from the lower yellow and red tees.
A tee shot to the heart of the green will bring a huge sigh of relief. Miss left or right, however, and you’ll be staring down the barrel of a bogey. 😬
A slightly off-line tee shot with a lucky bounce off the back of the bunker has, on many occasions, produced that illusive ace. 🏌️♂️⛳️
Another great Par 3 that rewards the accurate golfer but certainly punishes the not-so-straight hitters.
Par on this little gem is always a good result. 👌
Have you been lucky enough to ace the 14th, or has it been a card wrecker?

⛳️ 2026 Course Maintenance ⛳️
Our annual greens maintenance programme will begin on Monday, 10th August 2026.
While there may be some short-term disruption, this essential work is vital to keeping our greens healthy, firm and consistent throughout the year.
By carrying out this programme in August, the greens recover much more quickly than they would if the work were completed later in the season. This allows the surfaces to heal and establish, helping to ensure excellent playing conditions for the remainder of the year.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while this important work is carried out and thank you for your continued support
