An Exciting volunteering opportunity here in Sheffield.
Zest are currently recruiting Parents city wide with energy and vision to come and volunteer alongside our EPEC volunteer coordinator and Sheffield City Council Parenting Team.
Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a successful, popular, unique parenting approach. It is for local parents, led by local parents.
EPEC groups are highly interactive, involving an engaging and creative blend of small and large discussion, demonstrations, information sharing and reflection. Real life examples, Parents practice and use new skills in everyday life to achieve specific goals.
Training Starts Wednesday 16th September 2026 and runs every Wednesday (term-time only) until 10th February 2027. 9.30am -2.00pm. At Zest Centre, Upperthorpe, Sheffield, S6 3NA.
The Training will include:
β€’ In person training sessions with parenting specialists, completion of some e-learning training modules and keeping your own weekly reflective training journal.
β€’ Further Training opportunities will be available to enhance your professional development.
We are looking for people who are:
β€’ Parents/carers or people who have experience of parenting.
β€’ Wanting to make a difference to families in your own community
β€’ Good communicators, with a friendly and approachable manner.
β€’ Able to listen/ share their own experiences, sensitively with others.
β€’ Team players and able to build relationships with a wide range of people.
β€’ Are compassionate, supportive and non-judgmental.
β€’ Can give encouragement and motivation to families who need it the most.
β€’ Are enthusiastic, committed, trustworthy and reliable.
β€’ Are ready to learn new skills.

β€’ Payment of travel expenses (on production of receipts) and child care expenses (for children under 5) whilst training or delivering groups.

β€’ Gain experience that will help you to fulfil your ambitions, including employment support.
β€’ Opportunities to connect into Zest and a network of Early Years/ Parenting organisations.
β€’ Reduced rate gym and pool membership equivalent to staff discounted rate at ZEST Upperthorpe (after initial 6-week trial period and for the period you are volunteering).
Due to the nature of the role an enhanced DBS is required. 2 references will also be necessary to support your application.

Just a small glimpse of the wonderful time that was had on Saturday @ Zest for Jamaican Independence Celebration 2026, our biggest yet with 250-300 people coming along!

Massive thank you to all the amazing live singers Eneta and Chazzlyn, Tixxy Bang and JC Clack and Desert Eagle Soundsystem!

Huge thanks to the ever brilliant MC Nige for your warm presence, compering and limboo-ing skills!

Berry's Kitchen food that always creates a massive buzz and queue!

All the stallholders; Trudie - facepainting, Aisha & Isobel Crafting, Diabetes UK, Shirley, Paulette, Linda and colleagues from SACMHA, Yorkshire Adoption Agency and Sandie on cakes and drinks!

Volunteers who worked tirelessly to get the event set up Maryam, Rob, Aisha, Sandie, Claudia, Ekhlas -thank you. And to Zest staff for supporting.

To Sonia and Sacmha for brilliant partnering, planning and everything else on this event! And Central Local Area Committee for funding.
