The Captain’s message to his tee sponsors -
A HUGE THANK YOU MUST GO TO OUR TEE SPONSORS
I want to give a very special thank you to all the businesses, friends and supporters who sponsored tees for my Captain’s Charity Day at Pontardawe Golf Club in aid of Morgan’s Army.
The support for the day was absolutely fantastic and every single sponsorship helped us put on a great day while raising money for a cause that means so much to us.
Some of our sponsors had banners around the course, which you can see in these photographs, while others were represented by sponsored tee signs. Every one of them played their part and deserves our thanks and support.
👏 Thank you to:
InHouse Entertainment • Pic Up Spares • SA Sports & Holistic Therapy • Viv Date Carpets • The Lawn Ranger • Jenkins Bakery • KJ Hire • C & P Engineering • Roger Byers • DAP Airport Travel • Neil & Kay Sullivan • C&P Control Panel Services • West Wales Amusements • Teddy & Ralphy Lewis • Little Cherubs • Rossellis Coffee House • Dave’s Double Glazing
And an extra thank you to Viv Date Carpets for sponsoring two tees. 💚
Your generosity supported me as Captain, Pontardawe Golf Club and, most importantly, Morgan’s Army. 💛
Please take a look through the banner photographs and, whenever you can, support the businesses that supported us.
A follow, a share, a recommendation or using one of their services is a great way of returning that support.
Thank you all for helping make the day such a success. 💚💛⛳

⛳ BUGG-EASE AT THE CAPTAIN’S CHARITY DAY ⛳
It was great to have Bugg-Ease with us at Pontardawe Golf Club for my Captain’s Charity Day, showcasing their range of golf buggies and supporting Morgan’s Army.
And the day resulted in another Bugg-Ease buggy finding a new home! 👏
Fran purchased the green two-seater on the day, while the blue Bugg-Ease Solo belongs to Jo and has already proved what a difference having your own buggy can make.
Fran’s two-seater has another big advantage too: it’s road legal. If you live close to your golf club, that’s a fantastic option. You can drive your own buggy from home to the club, play your golf and drive it home again. No trailer, no loading and unloading, just grab the clubs and go! 🛺
For golfers who find walking 18 holes difficult, both models can make the difference between having to cut back on golf and being able to carry on enjoying the game.
A huge thank you to Bugg-Ease for coming along, supporting the Charity Day and giving everyone the opportunity to see and try the buggies for themselves.
And congratulations to Francesca Rees on the new wheels!
Two different buggies, one important purpose: keeping people playing golf. 💚

The people behind the day ❤️
Having thanked everyone for the incredible support for my Captain’s Charity Day, I wanted to say a more personal thank you to some of the people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the whole thing possible.
Jamie and our ground staff deserve enormous credit. The course looked fantastic and a huge amount of work had already been done before most of us had even thought about getting out of bed! Thank you for giving us a course worthy of such a big day.
A huge thank you too to Kady, Harley and Emily, who worked the bar throughout what was an incredibly busy day and evening. With around 170 golfers taking part, plus members, families and visitors joining us later, they certainly had plenty to keep them occupied. Thank you for keeping everyone refreshed and doing it all with a smile.
Conrad seemed to be everywhere! He played a huge part in directing operations throughout the day, sorting things out, keeping things moving and making sure everything happened when and where it should. I’m very grateful for everything you did.
Then there was Neil, who took charge of the BBQ and somehow went from providing bacon rolls in the morning to burgers and hot dogs right through into the evening. A very long shift over a very hot grill! Thanks also to Frankie, who was there helping him keep everyone fed. 🍔
And stationed on the 5th hole for the entire day, we had our official adjudication team of Ashley and “The Sheriff”, Past Captain Keith Davey.
They were there ready to verify any potential hole-in-one, supervised the Nearest the Pin competition and, as an unexpected addition to their job description, helped locate more than a few errant golf balls! 😂
Sadly, despite around 170 golfers having a go, nobody gave The Sheriff the opportunity to officially confirm a hole-in-one. But the 5th was certainly very well policed! 👮♂️
Not least, Geraint, our Golf Manager. There is an enormous amount of work involved in putting a day like this together, much of which people never see. From the planning beforehand to everything that needed organising and dealing with on the day, your help and support throughout has been invaluable. Thank you, Geraint.
And finally, my wife Jo. ❤️
The work for a day like this doesn’t start at 5am on the Saturday. There have been weeks of planning, organising, phone calls, messages, boxes appearing around the house and probably far too many conversations about the Charity Day!
Jo has supported me through all of it, as well as rolling up her sleeves and helping on the day itself.
Being Captain might be my job this year, but I certainly haven’t been doing it on my own. Thank you, Jo. ❤️
There were also others who stepped in, helped out and simply did whatever was needed throughout the day. I’m incredibly grateful to every one of you.
As Captain, you get your name attached to the day, but the reality is that a day like yesterday simply couldn’t happen without people like these behind you.
From the very early hours until late into the evening, it was an incredible team effort.
Thank you all. You helped make it a very special day for me, for Pontardawe Golf Club and, most importantly, for Morgan’s Army. 💛

A special message from the Captain 🫡
I honestly don’t quite know where to start in thanking everyone for the incredible support shown for my Captain’s Charity Day yesterday in aid of Morgan’s Army.
Around 170 golfers took part, which in itself was a fantastic show of support, but yesterday was about so much more than the golf.
So many people gave up their time to help set everything up, organise, serve, sell, run competitions, clear up and generally make sure the whole day worked. Some were there from 5am and carried on right through into the late evening. That is a huge commitment, and I’m incredibly grateful to every single one of you.
Then there were all the members, families, friends, sponsors and visitors who came along, supported the various fundraising activities, stayed for the evening and helped create such a brilliant atmosphere around the club.
I don’t yet have a final figure for how much we raised, and I don’t want to guess at it. We’ll get everything counted properly and I’ll share the total as soon as we have it.
But I didn’t want to wait to say THANK YOU.
Yesterday showed what a fantastic club Pontardawe is when everyone pulls together. The turnout and generosity were quite extraordinary, and I’m hugely grateful for the support you have shown me and, most importantly, Morgan’s Army.
There are lots of individual people and businesses I want to thank properly, and I will do that separately, but for now, to everyone who played, worked, helped, donated, sponsored, bought, bid, volunteered or simply turned up and supported the day:
1. Adam George
2. Pic Up Spares
3. SA Sports & Holistic Therapy
4. Viv Date Carpets
5. The Lawn Ranger
6. Jenkins Bakery
7. KJ Hire
8. C&P Panel Services
9. Roger Byers
10. DAP Airport Travel
11. Neil & Kay Sullivan
12. Viv Date Carpets
13. C&P Engineering
14. West Wales Amusements
15. Kango Teddy and Ralphy Lewis
16. Little Cherubs
17. Rosellis Coffe House
18. Dave’s Double Glazing
Thank you. You made it a very special day. 💛⛳

TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY.
We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone tomorrow for what promises to be a fantastic day in support of our Captain’s Charity, Morgan’s Army 💛
Just a message to say thank you to all those who are participating and to all those who have already donated so far, it means so much.
A little reminder about the BBQ, yes, it’s FREE, and we absolutely love welcoming our members, guests, families and visitors - please do come along. However, it’s not quite a free-for-all. 😆
There will be multiple donation points around the bar and shop, so if you’re enjoying the BBQ, please pop a couple of pounds into the collection. Every little bit helps us raise as much as possible for Morgan’s Army.
We’ve even got a contactless payment machine at the bar, so there’s no excuse for not getting involved. Every donation, big or small, will be hugely appreciated.
Members are very welcome to bring along family and guests, so invite your friends, come along, enjoy the day and help us create a brilliant atmosphere while supporting a fantastic cause and see what you think of PGC’s very own Gordon Ramsey 👀
Good luck to everyone taking part tomorrow and, most importantly, let’s have a great day 🙌
